Best Art House Theater 4/15/2006

When I have the opportunity I try to see the latest independent and foreign films at one of the two Angelika theatres in North Texas. The Angelika in Plano is newer and has a slight edge of its counter part in Dallas in terms of the fanciness of the building. Although it only has 5 screens as opposed to the 10 or so the Dallas theatre has. The concessions are costly but you can buy delicious goods not available at most theatres. more

Perfect for film-natics 10/21/2005

The Angelika is a very nice, upscale movie theatre that is located over at The Shops at Legacy. When you walk in, you will be welcomed with a nice crystal chandelier hanging from the 2nd floor ceiling. They show independent and foreign films that you don't get to see at the mainstream movie theatres. Feel free to order food or a glass of wine to enjoy at the cafe to take into your movie. more

different type of theater 10/21/2005

Here all the movies are made by independent companies. They are unique and always interesting. Tired of all the assembly line movies with the big big budget. Here is where to get back to basics of movie production. There is also lots of food at very reasonable prices or if you want there are many nice restaurants near by, so make a evening of it. more

Indie Comes to Town 8/16/2005

Fans of indie moves no longer have to go to distant theaters to enjoy them. The new Angelika Films Center in Plano exclusively caters to indepdent films with a few major releases. This theater is the best theater i have ever been to. It is radically different and better than most movie theaters. Besides that usual amenities of standard movie theaters, it has leather seats, a café, and a bar. Prices are either the same or cheaper than conventional theaters, but with better service. If all of this wasn't enough, it is within walking distance to some of the best restaurants in town. more
