I used to go to Andre Chreky when my former stylist - an African-American man who specialized in African-American hair - was based there. I found the prices among some of the highest in the metro area, along the lines of Red Door and places on that order. If that's what you want to spend your money on, this probably is a place you'd want to do it...sometimes they serve cappuccino or wine, and the upstairs rooms where they do massages and facials are very relaxing too, with New Age music, hardwood floors and aromatherapy. This also used to be the only place I could buy Yonka products. But I also will tell you that my stylist left out of frustration with the management's insistence at treating some African-American staffers badly, and at seemingly becoming disturbed or jealous when some African-American stylists did well and developed a following. That's when I stopped going too -- you've got to speak with your money, if nothing else. I also noticed that sometimes the staff was wonderful, other times rude, snippy and snobbish. The place is worth checking out at least once, maybe more, just be prepared to spend some money and to deal with the occasional "Vancome Lady" (or even more, if you're a person of color).
