Anamia's Tex-Mex Restaurant has a different feel on the inside than other Tex-Mex places. With high ceilings and nice earthy tones, iron chandelier lighting, it's hard to remember you're in Lewisville.
There is a small bar area is separated from the dining area with an open wooden grid of shelves that makes the place look and feel like you are in someone's house. Brightly colored prints of country homes decorate the walls, and Mexican music is played at a level to add ambiance rather than dominate the conversation. Because there are high ceilings and polished concrete walls the restaurant tends to be fairly loud.
The salsa is above average. Just like another local Tex-Mex favorite, the salsa has too many onions for my liking. Most of my friends, though, are pleased with the taste. Tortillas are home made (to make my wife happy) and the chips are of an ok sort.
The fajitas are pretty tasty in that the chicken, for whatever reason, is juicier that other restaurants. Wrap that juicy chicken in a homemade tortilla with some Mexican rice, cool sour cream, and some of that oniony salsas and you've got yourself one heck of a fajita.
Chicken with mushrooms is a "different" sort of plate. It is served on one of those fajita-style skillets. There are so much onions, pablano peppers, and mushrooms that you have to dig to find the large portion of chicken breast. Everything tasted fresh and slightly spicy. Tender was the chicken. I wrote it like that so you'd know that it was so good that it made me invert my sentence structure. The rice and vegetables that were included as sides blended well with the entrée.
The combination plate (Maria's) included so much food that they had to serve the dish on two separate plates. The is your run-of-the-mill plate with your run of the mill flavors. Nothing special here except a bunch of average Mexican food, at least compared to the chicken and fajitas.
The glasses are about average, so I did have to get refilled a few times. The wait staff took care of business and I didn't have any complaints.
Anamia's is a pretty good place to get your eat on as long as you don't mind a loud interior to go along with your good food..
