Best

This is by far the nicest hotel in the area. The views are wonderful. The service is a bit lacking, but still nice. The room are very large and the room service is quick.

Worst

Visiting the Amway Grand is like stepping back through time. The hotel is divided in two -- one side is the "classic" side and was built in the early

Stayed here twice 3/19/2006

And loved it both times! It is very classy and comfortable. You feel like you walked out of Grand Rapids when you walk it. My husband and I stayed here for a Weekend to Remember Conference and it was so romantic! It is worth the money to stay here for a couple of days and get away from the world. The hotel is decorated beautifully more

Nice Place 9/12/2005

This is a totally unique hotel with different restaurants and shops in it. It is an expensive place to stay but for a special occasion it is worth it. The rooms are not average or the same as other chain hotels, they have character from the days gone by. The hotel is actually quite old but has been updated many times. The restaurants are local, not chains. If you need somewhere to go for that special occasion and aren't on too much of a budget, stay at the Amway Grand! more

Classy Hotel Getting (Much Needed) Update 8/20/2005

The Amway, downtown Grand Rapids, is a wonderful four star hotel that has finally realized that much of its decor, which was fabulous when it opened in the early 1980's, is in serious need of updating. Thankfully a number of areas of the hotel have been refreshed. I must say that two of the hotel's most expensive restaurants, 1913 and Cygnus, were nice but did not have that "wow" factor one would expect from a high-end hotel / restaurant. The other hotel services and the rooms are great as is the customer relations. more

Great Place to Stay 8/19/2005

If you are looking for a romantic place to stay or if you just want to stay in a luxury hotel, this is the place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and you can get some with great views. They have a gym, swimming pool, little shops, lots of nice restaurants in it. You definitely get your money's worth. It's a once in a lifetime experience to stay here. more

Fancy Hotel 8/18/2005

If you are looking for a little time away in a luxurious hotel, this is the place for you. The Amway Grand Plaza is a beautiful hotel located right in the middle of downtown Grand Rapids. It has many different restaurants ranging from average price to very expensive. The hotel also has boutiques in it as well. It sits right on the Grand River where you can take a beautiful river walk or go out for some shopping in downtown. I believe the hotel also offers weekend family packages for room, dinner and a trip to Craig's Cruisers. more

Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. 7/29/2005

I have stayed at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids MI., 3 or 4 different times. Each time was exactly as you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. The rooms were spotless and the service was excellent. I thought it was definitely worth the extra money to upgrade to the "Tower Club". These rooms are higher up in the tower part of the hotel. They have a better view and are a little more up to date than the rooms in the old part of the hotel. more

Nice, but Pricey 7/29/2005

The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel has everything one might look for in an luxury hotel. It has many shops and restaurants as part of itself along with large accommodating rooms. A valet parking service is available and is quite worth the extra expense. Grand Rapids is an amazing city, and the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, right on the Grand River, is the place to stay when visiting Grand Rapids. more

Well worth the price 7/27/2005

The Amway Grand is the city’s premier luxury hotel. The 30+ floor skyscraper has been a fixture on the Grand Rapid’s skyline for more than 20 years. The historic wing of the hotel has been around since 1913. There is no better way to impress a lady than taking her to dinner at one of the hotel’s two formal restaurants, then sipping champagne while admiring the view of the city. Trust me on this one. You do pay a premium for staying at the swankiest hotel in the city, but I’ve found it to be worth it. Pay a bit extra for a tower room, instead of staying in the historic hotel. The views are fantastic. The hotel does offer weekend and holiday packages which are definitely worth looking into. Every time I have stayed at the Amway has been a grand experience. more
