My friends and I left last evening due to all the above cons. I don't believe the bartenders smiled one time and acted like they were doing us a favor. Won't go again. Also, wh...

Great food, great experience 2/19/2009

I really enjoy myself whenever I go to Americas. The architecture is very unique and gives you a sense of a special dining experience. The service has always been exceptional on all of my visits. Normally they do not take reservations, but you might check on special occasions like Valentine's Day. The South American cuisine is what is really special here. The Curasco (sp?) steak in truly amazing. Served with family style plantains and vegetables, I find my meals here always satisfying and wanting to return. more

Bon Appetite! 8/20/2005

I have been living in Houston for 30 years and have to say this remains one of my absolute favorites. This is actually listed as one of the top 3 restaurants in Houston. With their fabulous south american food that melts in your mouth to their amazing setting. From the decor which I can only describe as original to the service to the meal. This is one location unlike any other. The specialty is steak marinated in chimichuri which is superb. I personally love the fresh fish dishes which always combine flavors like no other restaurant. The vegetables always taste freah as if they were just picked from the vine. All I can say is Bon Appetite! more

¡Buenisimo! (Great South American Food) 8/7/2005

America's is one of Houston's finest restaurants offering exquisite South-American prepared meals. I personally LOVE their Chicken Aguacatle. It is a piece of grilled chicken breast served over a bed of avocado sauce which is devine and grilled vegetables. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker so I always order their fresh lemonade. The salads at Americas are also delicious, in case you're watching your weight. But please do not leave without trying a slice of their 'tres leches' cake. It is a typical desert from latin america. Americas is a two-story restaurant with a bar on the first floor and the restaurant on the second floor. So you may also stop by for happy hour to mingle. Hope you like it as much as I do. more

Excellent flavors 8/5/2005

I was completely amazed at the wonderful taste of this south american seafood restaurant. I had the banana chips as appetizer which were excellent and snapper. The atmosphere was dim and well decorated, it made you feel like you were in kind of a jungle, but it wasn't cheesy or anything - very classy. It was a few years ago that I went but I still remember the rich flavors of my meal. more
