I was extremely disappointed in the quality of service I got at this business.\r \r The clutch on my 2007 truck was dragging and they replaced it for almost $1200.00. This did not solve the problem so I returned the truck to the shop the next day for repair under their 1 year warranty. They replaced all the fluid in the transmission without asking my approval. They then notified me that it had not solved the problem and they charged me another $180.00.\r \r I was so disgusted with their ineptness that I paid the $180.00 and removed my truck from their premises.\r \r They had my truck for 3 days and nothing was fixed except for their profit margin. \r \r The ""free rental car they advertise is one of a sorry fleet of an ancient 2000 Ford Explorers.\r Mine had 214 thousand miles on it and the tires had no tread left on them. The car was dirty and sounded like a lawn mower.\r \r I wish I had researched this company better before I wasted my money...but I was fooled by their wonderful bragging on their website.\r \r On a side note, I took the truck straight to a dealer and traded it for a newer model vehicle because I had already reached the point where it was not worth spending any more money on it..thank you American Transmission for costing me thousands of dollars and a couple of days lost wages. more

These guys are about as shady as it comes. Stay away! First off, their office smells horrible. They keep 2 large dogs inside and they don't clean up after them. It smells so bad that you can smell the office outside when you pull up. Secondly, they give you a warranty for transmission repair, but when it comes to actually having them honor the warranty, they come up with all sorts of ""excuses"" and ""reasons"" as to why its not a transmission issue, but something else. My transmission ""repair"" lasted all of 9 months before it failed. Finally, they are NOT a BBB accredited business like they claim. more

Honest, polite, and made me feel at ease in regards to the accuracy of what was needed, They are very fair with price and knowledgeable, The turnaround time is outstanding! And the mechanics at American Transmissions are incredibly fair in charging for parts and labor, I know I am not being ripped off when I leave my car with this shop. Hands down! more

Good service affordable price for fluid change on my Honda E. Service was quick... this was done over a year ago and I've got no issues ever. Why did I change it? It was part of Honda's recommended maintenance at 100K miles. I chose American over a dealer because their cost was better, all they do is transmissions, and they used OEM Honda Transmission Fluid.\r more

I have a 1992 Nissan NX - not the most popular Nissan ever made! Too bad, it is a great little car. I am the original owner. Way back in 1999 or 2000, I had a transmission problem and was advised to take it to American Transmission. The car already had around 150,000 miles on it. I fully expected to be told that I needed a new transmission. I no longer remember the name of the technician who serviced my car, but instead of the $$$ I was expecting, he first tried a $100 fix. He said he wouldn't guarantee the work even around the block. No matter - it is now 2010 and the car is over 250,000 miles and I have never experienced another transmission problem. If I did, I would definitely take it back to American's. They could have reamed me and I would never have known the difference. They didn't. They did the honest thing and I have recommended them to any and everyone I have encountered needing an honest transmission specialist ever since. And since then I take both my other cars here whenever there is a problem.\r more

Best transmission shop in town! This shop on Stemmons saved me, I was stranded and these guys were on their game just when I needed it most. They came out to get me when my Chevy transmission went out for good, free of charge! My Chevy is back to running and I am a happy customer for life! more

absolutely the worst 11/7/2011

This was the absolute worst experience with a business that I ever had. This dirty unkept place charged me $1297.00 to repair my jeep trans. Anthony (SAM) told me when I came to pick it up that my vibration was not the trans but it was the driveshaft. So essentially he charged me 1297.00 dollars and did not fix anything at all. I had to return my jeep back to this place. He told when they went through it again that the shift fork was worn out, but he could not find the part anywhere in the metrpplex. So, on my own time I found this part, paid for this part, and delivered this part. They attempted to repair my jeep again after I delivered them the part. I picked up my jeep and it seemed to be repaired. Everything was alright for about three weeks, and that vibration returned again. Anthony had to send my jeep to another shop because he (American Transmission) did not know how to fix the trans. He claimed the other shop could not find a problem with it. Anthony then tried to charge me for having to take my jeep elsewhere while the trans. was under warranty. For the fourth and final time on me returning to American Transmission he said that my trans. was fixed so I left with my jeep with the same problem and 1297.00 out of my pocket. more

Very Pleased with there Sevice & Knowledge 9/14/2010

I recently had car problems coming home from work on I35 & Beltline rd., having some what of mechanic experience I knew it was my transmission, I started to dial some local mechanics shops but every single one of them told me the same thing ""that it was late in the day & they were fixing to close"" Unil i called American Transmission and not only were they willing to take a look at my car late in the day but they also sent over a tow truck to pick up my vehicle free of charge.\r The following day after diagnosing my vehicle, the manager explained to me what the problem was in great detail, & recommended I replace various parts in order for me not to have problems in the future, the manager made me feel in control of giving me options and didnt feel pressured at all like some other places ive been to where they try to make me buy extra services that i might or might not need.\r After i picked up my car i havent had a problem with it and honestly if i have read the previouse review i probably wouldnt of took my car there but the way things happened im glad they were there when i needed them & theres a reason there still in business after so many years! more

AVOID THIS PLACE! 5/17/2010

I have never received such a horrible service, nor was I ever humiliated like this in my life! First of all, our transmission wasn't fixed (we brought our car 1,5 months ago, got a year warranty). Had to bring our car back 2 more times! Talked to Anthony (he has some serious mental issues), the guy who runs this place, who was extremelly rude to us! Woudln't let us talk to the mechanics, yet woudn't explain to us why our transmission is still not fixed. Wouldn't let me wait for my car at the waiting room, he said: don't want to have a pregnant woman sitting in my waiting room (im 23 weeks pregnant), then tossed the keys to my face and told to leave. Husband told him to treat me nice, Anthony screamed to a mechanic that was passing by to talk to us otherwise he would punch my husband. A threat?!! Asked for a refund, heck no, Anthony said ""no"" to every question asked. There was no logic, no facts, just an extremely rude guy. Please, please, please for your own sake AVOID this place. I have filed an official complaint with BBB today. Just shocked why would they give a business license to a place like that. Besides poor quality service, this place is dirty, unorganized. RUN, RUN away!!! \r \r Cons: POOR SERVICE, RUDE PEOPLE, WASTE of $$$$ more
