Magical place! 9/2/2010

All libraries are magical places -- and have many magical books! Some libraries are old, some are modern-- but the layout of the Flushing Branch of the QBPL is unique. There is much space in the rooms -- they're not all filled up with books and tables & chairs. There is empty space in this library...allowing, (I think) room for the ideas in all the books to "vibrate", creating a wonderful atmosphere! The rooms are airy & light, with big windows. Not too modern, not too old....just right! Books do make the library -- but so does the architecture. Inside & out, the Fresh Meadows branch of the QBPL feels like an eternal Spring, in fairyland! more

Fresh Meadows not only has the Fresh Meadows library... 7/19/2006

I agree that this is a very nice library. For me, the great advantage it has is the parking lot behind it. The Hillcrest branch is also great, but there is no parking. Both have lots of programs for kids and adults. more

Love my neighborhood library! 8/4/2005

I frequent the Fresh Meadows library several times a month and it is the cool place to be! The place is clean, there are multiple computers, the staff and librarians are hard-working and never had any problems. I can usually find a good collection of DVD movies and the latest released books! I can also requests books online and pick it up at my branch. The people who frequent this place are very nice and friendly. The librarian is also very helpful. There is a little parking lot but you can also park in the huge mall behind and walk there. more

Great library for the little ones! 6/24/2005

Of course there are many libraries you can choose from. But I really enjoy coming to this one. It is very spacious, new bestsellers are aways around and they have a great children's program. I bring my grandson over each wednesday for Toddler Time. For 45 min-1 hour a librarian (usually Miss Jillian) reads, sings and interacts with a large group of young children. The children love coming and enjoying being read to. It enhances his own reading time with his parents at home and he is always so excitied to be bringing home a new batch of books for night time reading. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. Check out this library especially if you have a litte one. They also have a program for the children younger than 2. more
