I deliberately waited 3 weeks after getting my hair cut by Amy before posting a review. I wanted to see how the cut would fare after a few weeks growth. To say this cut passed with flying colors would be an understatement.
I simply haven't had a bad hair day since this cut. Not. One. Bad. Hair Day. Which is quite amazing to me since my curly hair has the mind of a ferret - running crazily from a frightful wig of frizz to other ""looks"" which usually ended up looking messy. (And not the hot ""just-out-of-bed"" messy the fashion magazines boast.)
Here's the scoop: before I went to Amy, I tried going to three different hairstylists this year, hoping they would give me a cut that was flattering and leveraged the curl. Nada. I often would gather my hair into a banana clip just to keep it out of my eyes. Amy told me she would give me a cut that offered options for styling. Boy, she wasn't kidding. I had a stylist from another big-name salon cut my hair and it looked great for the ""curly"" look, but sort of blah if I styled it straight.
The day after my cut, I washed my hair and did a blow-out, carefully watching how the hair fell after using a large round brush. It looked great! I almost couldn't believe it! I then used a curl activator product the next time I washed my hair and allowed it to dry naturally. Again, it looked great! Rock on, Amy!
I'm in my mid-forties and believe me, have had my share of good and bad stylists. Amy took the time to talk to me (and listen!) while determining what style would best flatter my features and lifestyle. She even added a little extra TLC by giving my hair a nourishing mask. I can't believe how much I love my hair right now! The cut is still just as versatile as it was three weeks ago. Amy's price is a bit more than a mid-level stylist at Kenneth's, but then again, you're getting someone who knows how to cut curly hair, inside and out. Amy, by the way, has a gorgeous mane of auburn curls, herself. She's a sweetheart and I'd highly recommend her to anyone who is exasperated with trying to find a decent stylist for curly hair. I believe you will be just as thrilled as I was to discover her. :-) Oh, and btw, I don't wear my banana clip as often.
Pros: Highly professional, goes the extra mile in customer service
Cons: None that I can see
