I was looking for a salon that specialized in curly hair, I know that not every hairstylist knows how to cut curly hair, yes they are trained in beauty school but it is so much different then any other hair. I found Amy and her salon on the internet and am so happy to have experienced her expertise. I would recommend anyone that has not experienced a stylist that is trained in curly hair to go there and visit any of the other stylists as well. You will be glad you did! Thank you Amy for your expertise and patience with all my questions. I will be back again:)\r Terri more

Best haircut of my life! My hair was a total mess when I went in. I had been very scared about getting a haircut..hadn't had one for years. Amy knows her stuff! She's the ultimate CurlMistress. She answered all my questions, listened to all my concerns and had a cool personality. She left the length I wanted and created beautiful layers. Some hairdressers make you feel bad about yourself, like they are the only one that can save you from being a total disaster...not Amy, I left feeling better about myself and my hair. I bounced my curls right down the street with a big smile on my face. more

It just keeps getting better at this salon. I've been going to Ambushed for over a year now and I have nothing but good reviews. The people are wonderful and my hair always looks fantastic.\r \r Until I found this salon, I had never come out of a salon liking the way my hair looked. I normally have to put my hair up after getting it cut, but the first time I walked out of Ambushed, I was thrilled with the results. My curls looked great all day. And I was pleasantly surprised when they looked just as good the next day. Now, every time I go back, it gets even better as Amy gets to know me and my hair more and more. \r \r After a lifetime of bad haircuts, it's great not to have to worry about that anymore. more

great cut/color...but the rest is disappointing 3/2/2012

I have mixed feelings about Ambushed Salon. My hair looks fantastic, but my experiences have been less than stellar. If you get an appointment first thing in the morning I guarantee you Amy will be late. Don't plan anything for most of the day because a cut and color takes 3+ hours. Every time. You have to pay for parking. If you don't already live downtown and have to commute the drive is a &*(%$. The salon is well decorated and extremely stylish, comfortable and high end looking, but it's not real clean. I have no idea about equipment sanitization or anything, but the floor/chair always has a ton of hair on it. With all that being said, I've never recieved a better haircut or color from anyone in all my life. If you're willing to put up with the negatives... you'll leave there extremely annoyed but looking AWESOME. more

Never Going Again 2/20/2012

I went to Ambushed because I heard about a deal an intern was doing for 10 dollar cuts and 10 dollar colors. Because I am a broke college student, this deal really wowed me. My mom always spoke highly of Amy's salon and I was excited to go. I understand that going from red hair to blonde hair is a bit tricky, but I was there for 6 and a half hours. This is more than 1/4 of a day. The girl did not seem to know what she was doing and she wasn't super friendly. In the end, I was charged 75 dollars for the do I was anticipating to be 20. Never going back again. I was really really disappointed. more

Amy's the Best 5/23/2011

Amy has been cutting my hair for 16 years, now. I don't have curyly hair, I have short fairly straight hair. My hair always looks absolutely great up until it's time for me to have it cut again. The people she has working with her are as attentive and professional as she is. I look forward to my appointments not only because I love to have my hair cut, but also to interact with the people at the salon. This is a wonderful place with exceptional people. more

The first cut wasn't a fluke :) 3/5/2011

I just got back from my second haircut at Ambushed Salon, and it's even better then the first one! I didn't think that could be possible, considering that the first cut Amy gave me gave my curls such an amazing transformation that my own family members didn't recognize me at our Holiday Party. But with the new cut, my curls are even fuller and curlier than the last time, and the shape is amazing! And just like the last time, the whole experience was incredibly pleasant and fun. Everyone at Ambushed Salon is so warm and friendly, it makes me feel like I'm hanging out at a friend's house (and it would be a friend with great taste and style, because the Salon is decorated so well). I'm really looking forward to the hair party my friends and I are going to have at Ambushed! Amy, thanks for another great experience! I even walked home in the rain and it didn't have any negative effects on the incredible cut you gave me :) more

AMY ROCKS 1/2/2011

I have worn my hair in a boring bob forever - she'd always done a great cut...but recently I decided to let her experiment. The result - a GREAT cut that's easy to care for and naturally wavy - who knew??? I get compliments on my cut every time I go out. Amy really knows her stuff and is consistently perfect. Straight or curly - she's the best!!! more

Amy's the best! 5/30/2010

If you know you need a hair cut... 4/30/2010

but aren't completely sure what you want, fear not! I got my hair cut by Amy today and she did an amazing job. I'm not the most decisive person, so although I had been thinking about how I wanted to cut my hair for a couple weeks, I hadn't really come up with anything other than I wanted it shorter. Amy took into consideration my face shape, hair texture, and styling needs and designed a hair cut she thought would work for me. It looks fantastic and I'm really happy that I found someone who doesn't just try to cut my hair like it's straight. So if you're frustrated with your curls and don't know what to do with them... Go see Amy. more

To the rescue 2/24/2010

I took my 10 year old daughter to Amy after she was recommended to me by my boss. My boss has very curly hair and so does my daughter. We have struggled with my daughter's hair for a long time. I don't have curly hair and I didn't know how to help her. She was upset with how it looked and the fact it was different from all her ""straight hair"" friends. She said often that she ""hated"" her hair and no matter how much I told her that I loved it and how lucky she was, she did not believe it. My daughter's app't with Amy went beautifully. Amy took a lot of time talking to us and telling us how to care for her hair. There was other clients there who also talked about their curly hair. Her hair turned out wonderful. Natalie was very pleased and told her girl friend who she called in the car when we left that it was very ""pretty"". Even on days when she doesn't do anything to it and just pulls it back, she likes it! It was an amazing experience for us and quite frankly life changing for my daughter. Amy did a remarkable job talking, teaching and encouraging my daughter. We love her! more

Best Short Hair Cut I've Ever Had 12/24/2009

I found Amy through CitySearch looking for someone who specialized in curly hair. I have had so many bad haircuts in my day due to my fine, curly hair and tiny pea-head; I often end up with 'mushroom head'. Amy listened, studied, and decided that a recut of what I already had would help. I didn't know how cutting an already too short, poorly done haircut would make it better but with 45 minutes of studying and listening and only about 5 minutes of cutting, she changed my mushroom head into a doable look. She also encouraged me in the hair color department and soon I had a chic, stylish re-do with some amazing color. I'm not sure I'll keep it short for long, only cutting it to let my natural hair color grow in, but I feel confident that Amy will be able to provide me with quality cuts and coloring despite my whims. If you have curly hair, go see Amy. If you've had bad haircut after bad haircut, go see Amy. Fun, personable and awesome, I highly recommend her services. Pros: Attentive listener Cons: loft space is small more

Amy Bush @ Salon Lofts Best for Curls and color! 11/26/2009

I hadn't been to a stylist in years and had just been cutting my own hair and coloring from a box because every stylist seemed to cringe seeing my curls coming. When I DID get my hair done professionally I always just decided to leave with wet hair because the stylist didn't have a diffuser or would just offer to ""blow and brush it out"" which, anyone with curly hair knows, you can't just blow and brush it out unless you want a huge fro! LOL :) Anyway, I went to Amy the day before Thanksgiving and she did an AMAZING job!!! The color is so rich...and even without highlights, my hair color is multi-faceted going from rich hues of brown to ruby reds in the sunlight depending on how the light hits it. When Amy cut it she really looked at how my hair was beginning to curl after the shampoo and cut with the curl to provide different lengths that would lay without giving me a ""triangle head""! :) She took her time even though it was the night before a holiday. She s extremely enjoyable to talk to and it was a very comfortable atmosphere. When I left my hair looked and smelled amazing! The Euphora products she uses are great and I made sure to get some on my way out because it made my hair smell SOOO good. I could even smell it in my sleep! My husband LOVED my hair and he gave me that movie moment ""LOOK"" that Andrew McCarthy gave Molly Ringwald in ""Pretty in Pink""! He was constantly touching my soft curls and smelling my hair and he declared ""You are never allowed to cut your own hair again!"" and ""When are you making your next appointment with Amy?"" Amy was magnificent and I will definitely be going back! more

Curly Hair Expert! And Local, Awesome. 10/12/2009

I had my hair cut by Amy on Friday, and I can't tell you how excited I am to have someone of this caliber in Columbus. As anyone with curly hair knows,it isn't easy to find someone who ""gets it"", and Amy is that person. I travel quite a bit for work, and on my endless quest for just the right cut for my curly hair, I have tried stylists from Beverly Hills, Chicago, DC,etc., even Quidad in NY, and I can honestly say this cut is better, without the hype of a NY salon or the price of Beverly Hills. Amy took the time to listen, to explain her approach, and to discuss styling options. I was quite impressed with her as well as her direction for her new salon. After my appointment I went shopping, and a woman stopped me to ask about my hair (I was excited and felt like Amy really made a difference!) Of course, I told her about Amy. Curly hair is a club you know, but we share our secrets. Pros: great at listening to client concerns more

OUTSTANDING Stylist for the Curly-Hair Divas! 9/21/2009

I deliberately waited 3 weeks after getting my hair cut by Amy before posting a review. I wanted to see how the cut would fare after a few weeks growth. To say this cut passed with flying colors would be an understatement. I simply haven't had a bad hair day since this cut. Not. One. Bad. Hair Day. Which is quite amazing to me since my curly hair has the mind of a ferret - running crazily from a frightful wig of frizz to other ""looks"" which usually ended up looking messy. (And not the hot ""just-out-of-bed"" messy the fashion magazines boast.) Here's the scoop: before I went to Amy, I tried going to three different hairstylists this year, hoping they would give me a cut that was flattering and leveraged the curl. Nada. I often would gather my hair into a banana clip just to keep it out of my eyes. Amy told me she would give me a cut that offered options for styling. Boy, she wasn't kidding. I had a stylist from another big-name salon cut my hair and it looked great for the ""curly"" look, but sort of blah if I styled it straight. The day after my cut, I washed my hair and did a blow-out, carefully watching how the hair fell after using a large round brush. It looked great! I almost couldn't believe it! I then used a curl activator product the next time I washed my hair and allowed it to dry naturally. Again, it looked great! Rock on, Amy! I'm in my mid-forties and believe me, have had my share of good and bad stylists. Amy took the time to talk to me (and listen!) while determining what style would best flatter my features and lifestyle. She even added a little extra TLC by giving my hair a nourishing mask. I can't believe how much I love my hair right now! The cut is still just as versatile as it was three weeks ago. Amy's price is a bit more than a mid-level stylist at Kenneth's, but then again, you're getting someone who knows how to cut curly hair, inside and out. Amy, by the way, has a gorgeous mane of auburn curls, herself. She's a sweetheart and I'd highly recommend her to anyone who is exasperated with trying to find a decent stylist for curly hair. I believe you will be just as thrilled as I was to discover her. :-) Oh, and btw, I don't wear my banana clip as often. Pros: Highly professional, goes the extra mile in customer service Cons: None that I can see more
