I went to Beatrice after reading the glowing reviews on this website and was very disappointed. At the first fitting she spent most of the appointment telling me what an awful lot...

I had a great experience with Beatrice. I live in Wimberley and I really didnt want to drive all over the place looking for a good seamstress so I looked for the place that had the highest recommendations... and the rumors were true. \r \r I had a corset bodice that needed to be taken in over 6 inches, I needed a bussel, the boning had to be restructured to fit to my body, 10 inches needed to be taken off the bottom and my dress had layers and layers of cascading waves and everything was done perfectly.\r \r I also had a veil made at a much better price than I would have found at a bridal store and it was exactly what I wanted it to be.\r \r It may be a little more expensive that some people may expect, but you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny to have my dress fit me so perfectly. She also lets you make payments over the course of your appointments which makes getting everything paid for much easier. The best part for me was getting to go in several times over a couple of months and playing bride before it was done... and each visit made me feel more beautiful than the last.\r \r She makes scheduling really easy and is available most days, she works quickly and she sends you pictures of her work throughout the process, which kept me loving my dress when I was away from it. She is very proud of her work and it really shows in the details. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/5/2012

Beatrice is the most amazingly talented seamstress that I have ever met. My sister had a formal gown fitted by Beatrice and could not stop raving about how wonderful she was and perfect her dress turned out. I purchased a couture wedding gown in Dallas, Texas and wanted to have it fitted in Austin so that I wouldn't have to tread back and forth for fittings, and I am so thrilled that I found out about Beatrice. Her reviews online speak for themselves. \r \r First of all- the dress I purchased was incredibly ornate with beading, crystals, flower details and feathers. It was not an easy-to-work-with dress and it was too big. I didn't even realize how many areas didn't fit properly until I tried the dress on for Beatrice. She immediately showed me all the areas that would need to be taken in and up and all around and showed me how the dress should fit. \r \r She's incredible. Everyone says ""you have to have the shoes to get it altered"" and so I rushed to buy shoes to go with the dress. However, Beatrice wouldn't pin or measure the hem until every other piece of the dress was fitted so that it would fall exactly right. There is no doubt she is a master seamstress. She made changes to my dress (taking out boning in places, adding boning in places) that made it exactly to fit how I wanted it to fit. \r \r She can see you and what will look best on you and make it happen with expert skill. She also photographs everything and keeps a picture record of the changes. This can be incredibly helpful. I had to have my dress cleaned after the bridal shoot, and when I returned it to Beatrice she noticed that several of the details had been removed and not reattached or hadn't been fixed by the cleaners. It was significant damage and her photos gave us proof of this. Then for no extra charge she hand stitched every delicate flower that had started to come off the dress because of the cleaning damage. \r \r She is a master of what she does and genuinely cares for you and wants the best for you, that is why she continually will go above and beyond what is required. She made my dress perfect and it was a dream. \r \r Beyond the amazing work on the gown, I also had an ""after-party"" wedding dress that she remade to be my perfect fit. This one was a different story because it was too small. It was covered in lace and feathers and the top was too tight and unflattering. She completely remade the sleeves/sides of the dress so that the cut was completely flattering. She can literally do it all. \r \r I recommended her to all of my bridesmaids and have already been back to have a bridesmaid dress fitted with her also. She will make the dress fit you like a custom dress and is a complete pleasure to be around. She's a little fireball of energy and is completely passionate about her work. If you live anywhere in driving distance to Beatrice then this is absolutely where you must go to have your wedding gown fitted. She will make it a dream come true. \r more

I LOVE Beatrice! 4/22/2012

I LOVE Beatrice! I had decided to wear my deceased Mother's wedding dress as a tribute, and so I was very very wary of who I was going to let touch it. The dress was handmade in 1980 for my Mom, who was 5'11"" and weighed about 15 lbs more than me (I am only 5'7""), so the dress needed a lot of work. To top it off, the dress was for a cool-weather wedding, and I got married on a beach where it was 85 degrees. Bea was awesome at discussing and giving me examples of the multiple options we had, and she had great ideas for the design that I would never have thought of on my own. The dress had a lot of lace work on the bodice, and this is where her attention to little details really defined her excellent craftsmanship. She took an old-fashioned dress, kept all of the unique features of the gown, and made this a beautiful modern piece that could not have been more ""me"". Bea is an ARTIST, and in that sense a bit eccentric. She will be 100% honest with you about the construction and comfort of your dress, which is very important when you're talking about something that you'll be wearing months down the line. She quoted a very reasonable price for the amount of reconstruction that had to be done on the dress, and despite extra needed appointments, never charged me a penny more; she even did a quickie alteration on the slip for free! I would absolutely recommend Beatrice to anyone who appreciates excellent quality! more

Great Work, fast! 4/11/2012

Beatrice's work was amazing! You can tell she is so passionate about her work. I was a little nervous taking my expensive bridesmaid dress to someone I found on the internet without knowing more about her, but she did a fantastic job. It was well worth the price! I was in a bit of a time crunch, and Beatrice fit me right in and had the dress done and perfect in no time. I wish I would have known about her earlier so she could have worked on my wedding dress. I will definitely be coming back to Alterations and Veils by Beatrice. more

Amazing Alterations 2/14/2011

Beatrice did an amazing job. I brought in a floor length Nicole Miller dress that was really too big all over. Nicole Miller dresses are complicated, especially due to the ruched fabric, and I was obviously very nervous to get it altered. Beatrice's work was awesome. The dress went from being bagging in many areas, to fitting like a glove. While it wasn’t cheap, I think you get what you pay for. Beatrice specializes in formal dresses and does an excellent job with alterations. more

Great work! 11/9/2010

Beatrice did a great job on my wedding dress, which had a great deal of beadwork and needed to be taken in from the waist up. When she was finished, you could not see where the dress had been taken in at all -- it looked great! I was coming from out of town, and Beatrice was very nice about that. She worked with my schedule and worked hard to make sure the dress looked wonderful. Overall, she did a great job and I'm very happy she was available to alter my dress! more

Excellent Work and Customer Service!! 7/8/2010

Beatrice was absolutely wonderful!! I went to her in the past with a bridesmaids dress that needed small alterations and she was upfront and honest about her quality of work (high) which leads to higher prices than you will see at places who do less quality work. I decided to go somewhere cheaper at the time since I didn't need much alteration done to the dress. Almost a year went by and here I was getting married myself! I had my mother's wedding gown (32 years old at the time), and I needed someone to alter it and take good care of it (very fragile fabric!). I knew exactly who to go to. \r \r Beatrice gave me a free consultation where she discussed options for the dress and cost. She gave me one flat fee for all of the work and promised to do whatever it took to make my dress look the way I want it for that flat fee. She also threw in the updating of my mom's veil and did a LOVELY job on it! She worked with me allowing me to make small payments throughout the process and stuck to her flat fee that she intially quoted.\r \r I had no idea how I wanted to alter the dress, but I knew I wanted it more modern but to still look like my mom's dress. She gave me a lot of great ideas that she came up with on her own. Then she would make a small change, have me come see what I think, decide the next change, make the change, have me come see what I think, etc.... So I was an integral part of the process and got to see it along the way to be sure I liked where she was going with it. Of course I did!! \r \r Her attention to detail was amazing too! She took care of every little tear or snag on the dress and it looked brand new when she was done! \r \r I showed the dress to my mom and she immediately wanted to call or write Beatrice to let her know what a GREAT job she did on her dress! I can now say I was happily married on June 12 in the dress and I got rave reviews on the dress all day long.\r \r Thank you, Beatrice! more

High quality work! Worked wonders on my dress! 6/7/2010

Beatrice did such a great job with my wedding dress. It was a lace on satin dress and was not an easy alterations job. Given the amount of work that was done, I feel her price was very reasonable and she was able to fit me in during a busy wedding season. She is quite talented and I feel she could handle just about anything. She worked magic on my dress and it fit me beautifully for the big day. more

High quality craftsmanship - Perfect Fit 3/23/2010

I bought a gown to wear to my sister's wedding, it is a fitted, floor-length, ruched, strapless dress. I could have worn it as is, but decided for such a special event I would like to have it fitted as the dress was slightly big on me and it needed to be hemmed. My circumstances were a bit unusual because I was traveling for 5 weeks prior to the wedding, so I came in for a free estimate on the alterations with Beatrice but was a little nervous because I wouldn't try the dress again until 2 days before I flew out for the wedding. I have to say I was incredibly impressed - Beatrice has an amazing eye. The free estimate was very comfortable, casual and quick, and the result was outstanding - meticulous and accurate. When I returned after 5 weeks of travel, the portion that she altered around the bust fit perfectly, and since I unexpectedly lost a few pounds, she brought in the waist as well free of charge so that it would look absolutely perfect. She also turned it around in one night! When I returned to try the dress again after she took the waist in a bit it looked like I had lost 5-7 pounds! It was especially amazing because she didn't pin the waist for the overnight alteration, she simply has an extremely discerning and accurate eye. The hem was also perfect, coming just above the floor, with the inner slip coming high enough to walk comfortably without being afraid of tripping. She gave me a clear price for the work, breaking it down into the different areas of the dress and wrote up an invoice right away. I paid half by check when I dropped off the dress and paid the balance when I picked it up. She had a copy of the original invoice at hand when I returned 5 weeks later and was highly organized, professional, and really does create a perfect fit! I am a designer myself and so am extremely picky and attentive to details. Very highly recommended. Pros: Extremely high quality of work more

Great Work!! 11/5/2009

After searching for weeks for someone to do alterations on my wedding gown, I decided on Beatrice based on the reviews. I am not sure about the prior review about Beatrice only accepting cash as I've paid for my fittings by check. For those who complain that her prices are too high, you get what you pay for. Beatrice's prices are reasonable and she is worth every penny! She has been very helpful the entire time and I couldn't have asked for a better seamstress. She is very friendly and listens to my concerns and offers solutions. She is such a perfectionist that she threw in extra work on my gown at no cost because she wanted me to look and feel beautiful in my gown. She is really passionate about her work and will do whatever it takes for you to love your gown. I just attended my last fitting and can't wait for my future husband to see me in my dress on our wedding day! Can't thank her enough! Pros: Fast work, flexible schedule, very helpful more

Great work!!! Easy to work with! 10/20/2009

Beatrice altered my bridesmaids dress for me. It was extremely ill-fitted and she made it fit like a glove. She was very nice the first fitting. I forgot my checkbook and she said she would be ok for me to mail payment to her. Her costs were very reasonable...cheaper than what the bridal store would have charged me. It was a great experience!! Pros: good price, fast work, flexible schedule more

Great alteration for a great price 8/3/2009

Beatrice was extremely reasonable with the price of the alterations of my bridesmaid dress. The place that I purchased my dress quoted $75 more that her price...which was a relief! In addition to the price she also took my dress a month later than the ""store"" would. I would absolutely recommend Beatrice for alterations! Pros: Quick work, good price more

Very strange 7/2/2009

I went to Beatrice after reading the glowing reviews on this website and was very disappointed. At the first fitting she spent most of the appointment telling me what an awful lot of work needed to be done on my dress and going on and on trying to justify how expensive it was going to be. At the end she quoted me $350 to alter a $175 dress. I was shocked at the price so I told her I needed to think about it, left the dress with her, and went home to call around. I spoke with four other seamstresses, one who I know is excellent (she lives out of state or I would have used her for this), and they all told me to run, not walk, away from this lady. The necessary alterations will be done for under $100 at a more reputable establishment. When I went to pick up my dress she charged me $35 for the first ""fitting,"" which involved her taking ""before pictures"" and putting about 2 pins in the dress. She refused a check and required me to leave and get cash from an ATM. All in all a very strange and dissatisfying experience. Cons: Extremely high prices, only accepts cash more

Best Alterations - I'm a Repeat Customer! 3/2/2009

The first time Beatrice did work for me was for my wedding dress. She turned the $200 dress I found in the Macy's formal department into the most elegant and unique wedding gown. It was incredible! She added lots of little extra touches to customize the dress specifically for me (such as adding lace at the bottom to give length, adding a bustle, and creating a ruffle along the neckline). She also reworked my mother's veil to match the style of the dress. The compliments I received on the day of my wedding were overwhelming - people thought it was a couture dress! She has an amazing eye for design and creativity while also ensuring the dress fits the person exactly. She is precise and thorough. I have never met anyone this talented to do alternations and her prices are so reasonable considering everything she does. I think so highly of her work that now she is the only person I trust for alterations. In fact, she?s working on two bridesmaid dresses for me to wear at upcoming friends' weddings. Pros: Precise, Creative, Individualized Service, Alterations Expert more

A Perfect Fit 2/23/2009

I highly recommend Beatrice to anyone who wants to ensure a beautiful and flattering dress. When my bridesmaid?s dress came in, it didn?t fit anywhere. The bodice was too big and the length was much too long. Beatrice basically had to remake the dress for me, re-sewing all of the seams of the bodice and taking up the hem of the dress which had several layers to it (and one of the outer layers was a sheer, delicate material that made me nervous to have altered). When she was finished, it was a dress that fit so well and was so flattering on, it was something I would have picked out in a store and been excited to wear. Her handiwork is flawless, and I would never know that it had to be altered at all. I will definitely go back to her to have future alterations done. If you want a perfect fit, she is the one to go to! Pros: Beautiful work, very accomodating to your schedule, very pleasant to work with! more

Wonderful seamstress! 10/7/2008

I needed to have my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding altered. It fit horribly, so I took it to Beatrice to altar. She fixed me right up and it looks perfect now! She is a very kind woman, and is clear with the prices from the beginning. The dress went from looking absolutely dreadful on me to looking wonderful. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs serious adjustments done to a dress, because she did a flawless job. Thanks to Beatrice for such wonderful work! Pros: great work more

Best for wedding gown alterations 9/19/2008

I went to Beatrice to do my wedding gown alterations and also wanted her to make my veil since the ones in bridal stores were way too expensive. She did a great job on both. The hem of of my dress is perfect and all the little details the dress needed were well done. The "" beach veil"" is what she called it, is what I exactly wanted and it matches the dress perfectly. I highly recommend Beatrice to anyone with their wedding gown alterations needs! Pros: Easy to work with, honest, flexible more

Perfect Every Time 8/1/2008

I first went to Beatrice after several local Bridal stores would not alter my designer gown from NY. She was honest and professional and made my perfect dress AMAZING! Three years later I am still going to Beatrice for EVERY bridesmaid dress I have had. Her work is flawless and her pride of workmanship shows. I will continue to refer not only my fellow bridal party members but anyone getting married or having a formal dress alteration need. I have never been short of 100% satisfied when picking up my garments. Pros: Flexible apt times, Pride of workmanship more

Beautiful veil 7/16/2008

I went to Beatrice on recommendation from a co-worker. I didn't need much done to my dress; just needed to get it shortened. But when I was there on my first visit, I started talking to Beatrice about veils and found out she would be able to make a veil exactly like I wanted for an amazing price!! I LOVED my veil - it looked perfect with my dress and was exactly what the whole outfit needed. Pros: Gorgeous veil. Understood my tight schedule and worked around it Cons: The hemming job wasn't done correctly and I wound up tearing it out at my wedding more

A Must Recommendation For Brides 5/18/2008

I would definitely recommend Beatrice. She's friendly and knows her way around a wedding dress. I bought my dress online so I definitely needed alterations but I was unsure as to how I would look since I have some serious curves. Beatrice took it up in places I never knew possible and made me look like I lost 30lbs. This is wonderful since I'm having my wedding in Louisiana and haven't seen my friends and family in a while. I would definitely use her again and recommend her to anyone looking for someone you can trust. more
