Best

I go out of my way to bring my clothing to Alpian's and I am very proud to say, it is worth it!! Alpian's has always offered me world class service, world class quality cleanin...

Worst

Alpian's treats garments very well, but not its customers. Although I have been very happy with the quality of cleaning, I am now so frustrated with the service that I am going to...

Best Cleaner in NYC 12/5/2007

I have been using Alpian's for over a year now and find the quality of their work simply amazing. They have removed ink and wine stains from my clothes numerous times. The tailor Frank C. is truly a master. He made a $300 suit look as if it was hand made in Italy. The entire staff is freindly and speaks ENGLISH!! I can't imagine using another dry cleaner. Pros: Stain removal, Speak English more

awful horrible people 10/20/2007

after reading all the fine reviews it has gotten on this site i decided to check it out. i had a few items to make alternations on. The woman who was doing the tailoring was surly and impatient. She acted as though i was a bother to her. Her responses to my questions were condescendingly answered. One of the items was a dress. she hee hawed the entire time she was making the alterations. I knew that it was going to take some work to shorten the hem and shoulder straps. I estimated in my head $50. She had it for $95!!! Which is insanity. It is a cost of another dress. All together my 3 items came out to $135. They wanted pre paid cash which i did not have on me. I felt stuck and said that i would return on monday with the cash. After i left i got halfway down the block and the thought of paying close to $100 for alterations on one dress seemed ridiculous and absurd I turned back around and told them that i was not going to have the dress done by them. The cashier that had rang me up went to the back to relay the message and came back to tell me that she was going to charge me $15 for the fitting. I agreed because I didnt want to deal with them anymore. I went to the atm and came back to find all my items in a bag with all the pins taken out. She had taken out all the alterations she had done. So even though i was going to pay the $15 for her service of fitting me. She was such a resentful person void of anything good. she had to turn it around and throw it back at me because I didn't have the money to burn and couldn't afford paying that much for alterations. Pros: nothing Cons: rude, spiteful people. they are condescending and impatient more

Mediocre skill and service, avoid it 9/17/2007

I brought two suits, one Corneliani and one Canali, for tailoring at Alpian's. I have lived in European cities and have had outstanding tailors, and I know tailoring and what I want. Neither suit was altered as I wanted it in the end, and required multiple visits and constant negotiations with them. Upon the last visit to at least get the trousers right, I got attitude from the proprietor who did not want to work on them further claiming they'd done all they can. Beware: here, the customer is not right--and you pay up front for this attitude. Thus, I have two suits I can't wear after blowing money with them. If you want real value and skill, and service, don't go here. Spend the time to go to Brooklyn and to Paramount Tailors. They are artists, and at less cost--and no attitude. more

Recommended by Saks and fully pleased!! DVF dresses came out great!! 9/6/2007

I was at Saks and got this great bargain on 2 Diane Von Furstenberg dresses. Unfortunately, they were both a size 4 and im a size 2. But I couldnt let go of this awesome deal. Saks could not help me with tailoring, they were backed up for 2 weeks and I was in no way ready to wait that long. After a few phone calls, they recommended me to Alpian's. So I headed over there. After an intense fitting (and them working with my particular personality..thanks for your patience!) the fitting was done. Got back the dresses in less than a week and wow was I impressed. The dresses fit me like a glove...Thanks for a great tailoring job and helping a New York woman with a particular personality!! Pros: Tailoring more

Dissappointed first, then charged extra for my trouble 9/5/2007

Well, I had had several alterations done based upon the strength of the reviews here. They were all fairly simple men's suit alterations and always went fine. I was always a little concerned at the speed with which the head tailor marked up my garment, but I could not argue with the results. Then I brought a more complicated job (one in which another tailor at a Soho boutique performed flawlessly on another suit) and they did NOT do a good job. There were pulls in odd places in my jacket and they did very amateurish things like create a seam that was sloppy and uneven, . When I asked them to fix it, they charged me an additional $35. I protested, since I was merely asking them to complete their earlier job but since they refused to refund my initial $50 outlay, I chose to pay the additional cash. I was shocked that they wouldn't stand by their work, and required more $$ when the suit literally fit me worse than before the work. Their excuse was that they needed to take in the jacket at a different seam to fix the problem with the jacket that they had created in the first go round. The second result was better but still far inferior quality to the job that the other above-mentioned tailor did. Now I am waiting on another tailor to fix Alpian's shoddy job for an additional $50. From now on I will only rely upon them for simple jobs like adjusting a waist or a hem. Pros: Simple jobs Cons: They do not stand by their alterations. more

Great Tailoring..Prompt Service on Drycleaning.... 8/29/2007

Heading over to the East Side from the West Side is and never has been on my daily agenda..it basically is a hassle...but living on the West Side, I seriously could not take cleaner after cleaner ruining my clothes or just acting like they were doing me a favor by cleaning my clothes...So with my metrocard in hand, I got on the subway and headed to Alpian's...Wow, I was surprised..my clothes (mainly work shirts and suits) came out amazingly perfect and so did my tailoring. A pair of pants that my pen burst on took some time to clean, but the end product of my pants coming out perfect was worth the 2 week wait...plus, everyone was so nice there...attitude and Manhattan pretentious free...perfect! more

Great quality cleaning, ok service 4/18/2007

In terms of quality of cleaning alone, Alpian's has to be one of the best in the city. I own a lot of designer garments and have had a few of them ruined due to poor quality cleaning. So I am very particular about the kind of place I will bring my clothes to. Alpian's has not disappointed me in this sense. Garments are always ready looking clean and better than new. Pros: Great quality cleaning Cons: Won't deliver to offices more

Good Cleaner;Nice Family Owned Bussiness 3/14/2007

I am writing this review to give thanks to Alpian's for the past several months for their imacculate service. Living in NYC for so long, I have dealt with many deplorable cleaners (no names mentioned..hah)... But Alpian's has really shown me that there are great, family owned bussinesses out there where service is first..Recently, my ball point pen burst in my favourite Brioni suit in the middle of Malpensa Airport in Milan as I was returning back to NY from a bussiness trip...I took it to Alpian's the same afternoon I returned from Italy ...they returned the suit in about 2 weeks in perfect condition...the wait was worth it...my suit was saved..i received and always receive great service...what else could I ask for??? more

Unreliable delivery and garment return 3/11/2007

Alpian's treats garments very well, but not its customers. Although I have been very happy with the quality of cleaning, I am now so frustrated with the service that I am going to stop using them. I have never had all of my garments returned at the same time. It usually takes several phone calls to get the rest of the order - often weeks later. Pros: Cleaning Cons: Unreliable service more

True Luxury Clothing Care with Ultimate Customer Service 2/25/2007

Two years ago I moved to Midtown East and I was referred to Alpians. Having never found a great clearner in my previous neighborhood of 17 years, it was an a Godsend to find Alpians. The pick up and drop off service is great. But I stopped the pick up service as I enjoy delivering my clothing as the employees are so nice it is a pleasure dropping off each week. I have never had a broken button on a shirt nor have I every had to return an item. due to a mistake. This is a first in my 20 years living in NYC. I no longer use Saks or Barney's for tailoring (due to so many problems), I bring everything to Alpians. There is no better tailor than Mr. C. What prompted this review was a situation that happened with a very expensive coat. I thought my coat was destroyed by water with rust that ran onto me in the subway. There were huge spots all over the coat. As it took me two years to find a brown coat that I like, I was not a happy campler. The coat was just returned in perfect shape. I made a specail trip to Alpians to thank them. I sell many apartments in my building and my number one recommendation to new owners is to use Alpians. I have never had a complaint. Pros: Best service on all fronts. Perfect location. more

Best DRY Cleaners EVER IN NYC 1/25/2007

I have been using this dry cleaner for about 2 years now and there's nothing better than GREAT SERVICE WITH A SMILE. Full service cleaning . My tailoring, laundry and dry cleaning is all done at Alpian's. The service is outstanding and very friendly. Actually they Speak ENGLISH !!!!!!! they understand what you need or when you need it to be done ........................ more

Great Cleaner who can actually communicate in spoken English! 8/31/2006

I am so content with Alpian's. Not only is the service great but they can actually speak with me in the English language. I have become so frustrated with the lack of ENGLISH SPEAKING drycleaners in Manhattan that i felt like i needed an intrepreter to get my clothes cleaned. After trying Alpian's , they got the stains out of my clothes, pleasant service and your moneys' worth. For example, I was naive enough to have brought a designer dress to my original cleaners which was a Chinese laundry sort of place downtown. Besides ruining my dress, they couldn't even speak to me and explain what in God's name happened. I do not know if the review below is true or not, but Alpian's did call me as well to inform that my clothing needed extra time to be worked on but everything came back great. Whether late or not, at least I was able to get a phone call in ENGLISH about my clothing. Definitely recommended from a very particular girl from LA!! Pros: Good service, Can communicate in English more

Worst Experience Ever --Ruined Dress, Rude and Dishonest Service 8/27/2006

Please do not take any item you care about here. I brought a beautiful, very expensive designer dress I had purchased at NYC boutique Intermix to be cleaned because it had a barely noticeable wine mark near the hem. As a precaution, when I dropped it off, I told the girl that I would rather live with the wine mark then sacrifice the rest of the dress and I told her to please tell me if she thought she could not clean it properly. She assured me that it would be fine and since Alpians SEEMED to have a great reputation, I tried to have a little faith. However, when I got the dress back, the red part of the print had discolored into the white part of the dress. The entire dress, which was supposed to have a white base--was now tinted PINK and RUINED! The manager did not even offer to pay for the ruined item and proceeded only to rudely belittle the quality of the dress in an attempt to avoid the issue. When I asked what could be done about Alpians mistake, the manager replied, ""NOTHING."" She claimed that the dress had ""a bad manufacturer,""""that the ""ink was defective,"" and that Alpian's has cleaned ""items much more expensive and they have all been fine."" (Intermix brands are NOT at all cheap as any shopper knows.) I was appalled! She refused to take any responsibility whatsoever and walked away after calling me ""ridiculous"" for even thinking that a dry cleaner would pay for such a thing. Pros: they call you if they are late on an item and need to stall Cons: horrible customer service, rude manager, ruins clothes more

New girl in the City pleasantly surprised with Alpian's! 8/6/2006

I just moved to New York and was amazed at 1.) the lack of cleaners who do quality work with reasonable prices and 2.) the lack of cleaners who could actually speak to me professionally in the English language. After one of my girlfriends went to Alpian's for some alterations, she raved about the quality and service. Though I was pretty pessimistic about trying anyone once again to clean my clothes, I tried them. Not only did my clothes come back amazing, I did not have to take out a mortgage in order to pay my cleaning bill. Though not extremely cheap, they are not expensive either. What I received was 1.) quality work, 2.) timely work and 3.)service with a smile with someone who could actually communicate with me. Try Alpian's, you'll probably be just as impressed as I was. more

Extremely Major Disappointment 6/7/2006

I have shirts cleaned for $1.00 and get better results. They need to get new brushes to use on the collars. The front and back of the shirt had dirt that wasn't there prior to the cleaning. Cons: The shirts came back dirty. more

GREAT SERVICE!!! 5/16/2006

I've been using this dry cleaner for about a year now and there's nothing better than GREAT SERVICE WITH A SMILE. Full service cleaning that makes my life easier. My tailoring, laundry and dry cleaning is all done at Alpian's. The service is outstanding and very friendly. I highly recommend Alpian's to all of my neighbors and co-workers. Thanks again!! Pros: Service, Friendly more

User review by damboise 5/16/2006

Alpian's Garmet Care is a well-run dry cleaner. They take pride in what they do and they always deliver when and what they say they are going to. I have never had a problem when bringing my garments there. The staff is awesome as well!! Pros: fully staffed, pick up , delivery more

User review by steveval 5/15/2006

In addition to their dry cleaning the tailoring is second to none. I moved over 10 miles away and still go there for their services. Pros: Inexpensive, good parking more

Poor Customer Service 4/13/2006

I've been using Alpian's for the last few weeks. Things were going well. I emailed them requesting a pick up, they delivered on time, and the clothes came back they way I expected. However, this past week, I email them requesting a pick up and then got a phone call saying that I didn't give them enough notice and couldn't pick up my clothes. That would have been fine, however, I gave them the same amount of time the previous weeks and there was no problem. Then, they picked up my clothes the next day and I got a call saying that I had to sort it before they picked it up, when, in the prior weeks, there wasn't a problem. It wouldn't be a big deal, but I got 4 phone calls at work about it and the lady I talked to was not courteous or helpful at all! Cons: Customer Service more

Alpian's Garment Care, Wonderful Service 3/29/2006

A red wine stain that had gotten on my beige pants was successfully removed. I had previously taken these pants to two other dry-cleaners and neither of them were able to remove this stain. I thought the service was excellent and i was very thankful for the removal of the stain. From now on i will always trust my clothes with Alpian's. Pros: Great Service, Friendly more
