Best

I went there as part of a bachelorette night with about fifteen girls! The place was awesome! The service was amazing and we even got a free round of shots and bottle of champagne...

Worst

I went to Alphabet Lounge for a friends birthday and I was told it would be a really fun time, which it had the potential of being, if the place wasn't so small and crowded. We ha...

80s night is great! 3/7/2007

Always a great place to stop by on Saturday night! 80s music, fun people, low key, low stress. Definitely a great spot more

Best spot for 80's music and dancing 3/3/2007

My friend and I hosted a birthday party for 120 people here - it could not have been better! Babu and his staff were incredibly helpful and a ton of fun, the DJ rocked, and all of our friends had a fabulous time. I hightly recommend the Alphabet Lounge to everyone who might not be into the club scene, but appreciates 80's music, and wants to drink, dance, and have fun. more

Cool place in East Village 1/1/2007

My friends and I happened upon Alphabet Lounge as we were bar-hopping one night in the East Village. We were drawn in by the sounds of music playing so we gave it a shot. The band we caught that night was really good and set the tone for the evening. We only stayed for about an hour but the crowd was cool as was the staff. We'd go back again. Pros: music, staff more

ABC: Attitude, Bars, Cramped 12/29/2006

Not my kind of lounge unless we're about subpar service. I learned early that the bartenders and various wait staff would not be all that forgiving for my spilled drinks or wannabe stiff drinks. There are other numerous complaints I could have about this place but CS will probably reject my review (yet again). Pros: Value, Music, Dancing Cons: Bartenders, Stuffy more

This place is great 12/9/2006

Friday night I met some friends at Alohabet Lounge. I hadn't been before, but I was shockd how great a place it was. The bar was crowded- in a good way- The bar staff was solid- The guy bartender was awesome. The music is what I will go back for- a girl DJ- cute too- was playing the best 80s. I made a request and she was happy to comply. Great crowd, good looking, fun and energetic. I will be back. Often. Pros: Cute DJ, crowd and bar staff Cons: need more bathrooms more

All-around best LES hangout for ANYONE! 10/24/2006

I walked into this place on Ave. C one night with my friend and ended up staying all night long. The music was so on point: classics, mixed with hip hop, top 40, dance, everything you want to hear. The crowd was filled with all sorts of people, and very cute boys (yes, the girls were hot, too). I cozied up on a barstool and chatted with the nice, generous bartenders and danced the night away. It's intimate but not over-crowded. Check it out, this will become your favorite Lower East Side hangout BY FAR. more

Just a Good Party 10/16/2006

I have been here a couple times. Both to see live music and to the late night party. Boy talk about two differnt venues in one night. First time I went was to see a friends band. Mellow joint. Next time I went in at about midnight on a Saturday and the place was packed! Lots of groups of parties which made it fun BUT do not plan on sitting down unless you have a managed to claim a section. Prices were on par with a great selection but no draft beer. The crowd was just there to dance to 80's tunes blarring out of the speakers. Go if you want to party and dance. If you want to have a conversation go to one of the many quiet bars in the hood then when you have a buzz come by to dance. Overall just a fun party with no attitude. Pros: great party with tunes you can dance all night to. Cons: a bit crowded late night... that could be a pro as well? more

Eeeew!!!! I need a shower! 10/5/2006

OK, the fact that there is a new owner explains a lot about how a decent place can become so TACKY and UNCOOL in just a year... At least there is a place for the Bridge and Tunnel, big-hairs and rubber-boobed to go so that the real cool places can stay that way. And by reading those reviews from happy tourists, I don't even feel bad warehousing them there. Pros: Keeps the unhip people out of the actually cool places. Cons: Sometime the tany people escape an invade nearby hip places more

Such a great time! 9/25/2006

This place was so fun- a little out of the way though. It was crowded, but that just made it better. The DJ was this HOT blonde girl- never seen that before. She was great too. She steared clear of the super cheesy 80s and just played a great mix of punk, glam rock and the standards. Babu the bartender was awesome. No complaints! I will be back. Pros: Hottie DJ, bartenders, crowd Cons: none more

HMMMMM..... NICE!!! 9/20/2006

I went for a friends party. A little bit crowed. Music was superb and right vibe. Had great time!!! Free champagne bottle and shots were promised and offered. NICE!!! Pros: MUSIC, CROWD more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 9/20/2006

Don't know who this frediedanza is, but he/she sounds like the manager of the place. If you have to write you own reviews, well then you know where this review is headed. The stage is an unconverted dinning area that sits one foot higher the the rest of the place. It has a railing with ugly fencing on it that blocks the view of the band, and no sound manager. That's right, bands have to set up there sound system with no help or guidance. And what is up with no bar stools. Standing only at the bar, and if you want to sit you have to call ahead and reserve one of the five seats in the whole freaking place. So if you are bar hopping your friends, don't hope on over to this place. Simply wait about five months, it will be out of business by then, or the owner will have gotten better managers. Pros: The bands (open mics) were outstanding, but never play twice there Cons: Everything but the bands, which never play twice there more

Fantastic Friday Night 9/16/2006

Ive heard about this place, never been there. Friday night I gave it a shot, wow!!! Should have done it a long time ago. Music was great, service was good. I had an unreal time. Cool crowd, good looking girls, my type of place. Pros: cool crowd, great music, no cover Cons: nothing really more

Not for real music lovers 9/15/2006

They claim to be a venue for emerging talent - BS! It's the worse venue I've been in the city. The talent was great and they prevailed even with the horrible acoustics (and, no, I'm not associated with any of the bands.) I was shocked at the lack of a real sound system or even a sound guy. Heck, sports bars even have sounds guys. This place is misleading when they claim to be a music venue. Don't trust them! And what's up with "reserving" all of the limited seating? That's not how a cool-local-music-loving venue acts. Overall, I sense a lack of smart and solid managment and they obviously do NOT understand how to run a music venue. Pros: Attract some good music talent Cons: They don't have the facilities to host good music talent more

Good dance scene 9/7/2006

I was there on a date. It was cool and the music was good. Not a typical date spot but still worth checking out. Pros: Music more

Babu treats you right! 7/19/2006

Stumbled into this joint after a couple mis-hits at other bars around there. Not a huge space, but room enough. Fairly simple design, but it does the job. Bottom line is this: The door chick is F'ing smoking hot, the chick DJ played every 80's/90's jam that you pretend you don't want to sing along with, but 20 seconds later find yourself belting out "taaaaake meeeeee ooooooon, take on me!" and doing the Carlton dance. Best of all, the owner Babu knows how to treat his drunks--I mean patrons...no, I mean drunks. All we had to do was catch his eye and there was another round lined up on the bar for us, not to mention every few rounds came with a complimentary round of shots. Great time. When in doubt, just head here. Pros: Music, Service, door chick more

Tightest birthday hang ever! 6/3/2006

Ok, so I decided to have my 30th birthday festivites at Alphabet Lounge last week: turned out to be the tightest decision ever. This place has got a cool location, awesome music, great drinks - but best of all are the owners who know how to hook up a birthday party. They were both pounding shots with me all night, on the house, until I couldn't drink anymore. I would do it again there in a heartbeat - those owners and that place rock. more

Awesome Friday Nights 5/21/2006

This place is great for Friday nights. The DJs play an amazing mix of 80 and 90s and a bunch of stuff I had forgotten about but remembered that I loved. The dancing is unmatched. Cheap good drinks, a lot of good looking people just having a great time. There is no cover and all the sudden it was 4am and we didn't know where the time had gone! Pros: Great music, Great crowd, Fun vibe Cons: there are no cons! more

Still the best 80's & 90's Music 4/25/2006

I have been to the Alphabet Lounge for a friend's birthday party recently (I haven't been there for 4-5 months). Let me tell you this, I've had an amazing time. DJ played all the great songs I wanted to hear from 80's and 90's. With new decoration the place looks great!!! Service was excellent. And the price of the drinks still the same (what i used to pay). Hot girls and crowd!! You gotta check it out. Pros: Great DJ, Excellent service, Reasonable price more

WAS cool...not with the new owner 3/2/2006

this place used to have character. it was dark, there was great artwork from the 80's, a punk collage and mosaic tiles on the walls. NOW it is stark, faceless and looks like every bar in midtown. Something has been lost. The bartender was missing 1/2 of the time and they had a really bad selection of beer. don't bother going, the new owner doesn't know cool when he sees it. Cons: bad beer, no atmosphere, bad service more

Excellent Place to Chill 1/14/2006

I have been to Alphabet Lounge couple of times. It's been an outstanding experience. Friday and Saturday DJ's are awesome. With 80's and 90's music this place rocks. Early in the evening it has live bands and its a great experience. Overall services are above expectation. Drink prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend to go and meet the beautiful bartender (blonde!) and the crowd. One thing though I suggest not to bring your car, getting a parking spot is tough. Pros: Inexpensive drinks, great crowd, excellent music Cons: bad parking more
