I have had my pearls restrung there twice, knowing that the company outsources. After the stringing snapped the first time in between beads, I called the company to complain and they told me that they had gotten a new company to do the restringing, and they hoped that I would give them a second chance. I found out that I had just run out of their warranty period (one year), so I stupidly turned over my beautiful South Sea pearls to them again. This time, the clasp simply fell off from the shoddy tie-off job done at the end. The string wasn't technically damaged, so I thought the repair ought to be easy, especially knowing that I was now, fortunately, within the one year warranty period that I had previously been told about. When I called Love's to complain and request that they fix this obvious defect in the work, they told me that they had no record of having serviced my necklace twice, and that the ""only"" time I had ever brought it to them was almost two years before, when I had it done the first time. When my mother tried to show them the receipt for the job, they told her that the receipt was only for the resizing she had done on a ring. So apparently my necklace fixed itself.
I thought the horror was over with them when I went to have my beads fixed again (after the clasp came off from their work), and was told that the string that was used for the job repair by Love's outsourcer was not only inappropriate, but that it had done damage to the surface of my pearls! Additionally, I was told that the knots were uneven and unprofessional, and that restringing pearls is a job that any basic jeweler ought to be able to accomplish--""[I] should have taken my pearls straight out the door when [I] was told they'd be sent away.""
Allison Love's ""Fine"" Jewelry is a sham--save yourself the trouble and just drive to Charlotte. This place should have gone out of business when I was a kid.
