A friend and I went to this store several years ago (but this doesn't matter because the owners have always been the same), and I have never been treated so rudely in my life by the owners. The male owner, (older gray haired 'gentelman' with a nasty attitude) is a complete a**hole! My friend and I were in our early 20's at the time, and he followed us around like we were going to steal something. He kept rolling his eyes at us to his friend who was standing in the store with him and after a short time came over to us and asked us if ""we were there to shop"". Are you kidding me? Why else would we be there? We were doing absolutely nothing wrong, and neither I nor my friend are thieves. I was so p. o.'d that I grabbed my friend by her arm and made her leave. He really has a lot of nerve to treat customers like that when there wasn't even one other person in his overpriced, tacky a** store! \r
I understand that as a store owner it is his right and his duty to be watching customers for theft, but there is no reason to make someone feel unwelcome when you are trying to run a retail business. I have worked in retail for years and would never EVER act like that to a customer, no matter who they are or what they look like. It's called tact!\r
I have lived in NYC for many years since this incident and walk by this store frequently, but have never set foot in it since. It really is too bad for them, because I now happen to be a professional stylist and I could be giving them a lot of business in the field I work in now. But I will NEVER go there again and neither should you!
