Fair, Quality service 3/19/2009

I honestly hate these review's. The reason being, how many people think of writing a review about a place they had a good experience at?? I don't ever.. but I recently visited this shop and had a very positive experience. They properly diagnosed my vehicle and fixed it same day and used quality parts that they back with a warranty. Thank you alki auto repair!! You have made a new long time customer! And for those of you who won't go here because of the few bad review's on them get over it, how many people do you think go there every day? If everyone that did wrote a review I would bet good money there would be 99.9% positive feedback!! more

One of the best mechanics available in Seattle 8/23/2007

I had many problems with the car. It was very old and i needed it to be updated and completely looked at. I found John and Ridge at Alki Auto very informative and nice. I don't know what Dan C. had a problem with, but i guess it was spelling "lesson" unless he really wants us to have leasons. :) i found them informative and upfront about all costs and procedures. Amateurs at best. Find another place 8/15/2007

The word incompetent comes to mind, though they may not really be that bad, but far from being pros. I went in for a $79 air conditioning recharged and walked out with a $1200+ bill and it still didn't work properly!!!!! Mind you they had to do a conversion from the old freon system (about $600), but they claimed there was something more to why it was not working. They had the car on an off for over a month, ended up refunding me about 1/2 the cost, but still the system does not work, in fact another mechanic believes its possible that they only made things worse by jump starting the a/c compressor. Looking back on things you would think that an ethical company or person would not do a $600 conversion until they found out what the problem with the system was in the 1st place! The manager Ridge is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He loves using phrases like, "I can respect your frustration" and such but never really made me feel like a they wanted to make things right. Also I have a neighbor who went to them for a $1200 brake job on her BMW and she says the car still does not brake like it should and the brakes squeak. - LEASON TO ALL: don't go to a mechanic in a beach community that overlooks the beautiful Elliott Bay. more

Overly priced, mediocre service 7/4/2007

Alki Auto Repair is geared towards that yuppie Alki resident with--hopefully for them--little knowledge of cars who'll be ooohed and ahhhhed because they can fix your car, ie change your starter for an outrageous amount. I made the mistake of letting them do a little, very little, rewire job that probably took them literally 30 minutes and no parts--$200. Never again. Definitely NOT the street savvy choice for anyone who doesn't want to be overcharged. more

Where did the nice guy go 5/26/2007

"What do you want me to do about it?" That's what they said when a friend asked Alki Auto to repair her mirrors, and they didn't. They assumed that it was a fuse issue. They claimed they tested it, but obviously they didn't. It cost her over $200 for "assessment." She had been taking her cars there for at least 10 years, and they wouldn't work with her. She's done with Alki Auto. I'd say if you are a minority or a woman, beware...looks like some, but not all receive fair treatment. more

Best Service, Real Experts, Fair Price 4/22/2007

I have dealt with auto repair shops in Seattle WA, San Diego CA, Chicago IL, Norfolk VA, Helena Montana, Calgary AB and am most pleased with the serviceand expertise of Alki Auto Repair. the particular repair I brought my wife's Saturn in for had been to 2 other shops unsuccessfully, Alki Auto Repair got it right the first time and for a fair price (Firestone on Calif Ave charged $1800.00 and actually made the problem worse, Saturn in Renton charged $287.00 and did nothing) Kudos Alki Auto Repair!!! more

Nice people, good view 10/3/2005

We've had nothing but good luck with this company. They are friendly, accomodating and expedient. I would definitely recommend them to anyone living in West Seattle! more

Fair Price, Great Service 8/16/2005

I am not the most auto knowledgable of people, so when my truck broke down last month I had no clue what was wrong. I had it towed to Alki Auto Repair and expected the worst. I always hear stories of disreputable mechanics milking you for all you have. These guys took the time to explain everything to me, what was wrong, what to watch out for, and what needed to be fixed. They even offered to let me buy my own parts if I could find a better price. more
