They sell expired items 1/6/2012

I went to Brooklyn from Vrginia for Christmas 2011 I am italian and when I herd there was an italian bakery I was super happy, when I got there they had on the shelves the Italian Colomba from Battistero I got so excited to see that I did not have that in a long time so I bought it, it was 15 dollars they did not take debit or credit only cash, I guess they do not want you to have any type of proof, anyway today my dayghter asked me to open it, it was hard like a rock and it was stynky I looked at the box and it was expierd on JUNE 30 2010 can you believe it? they have over 1 year expierd items in the bakery and they sell it too! I am going to give them a call tomorrow I know I am not getting my money back but they will hear from me! more

Not that good 6/5/2010

I had'nt been to Aliotta in years and wanted a strawberry shortcake and since Leons Bakery closed I haven't had a good cake. I decided to give Aliotta a try ,the cake it self was good but the "whipped cream" topping was stiff and had a bitter taste unlike any whipped cream I have ever tasted. I was very disappointed I don't understand why ..... Whipped cream just can't taste like whipped cream with out all the gross tasting additives.., I was disappointed and now I am again searching for a good Strawberry shortcake with real tasting whipped cream more

Best Pastries On Earth!! 12/21/2006

I relocated to Florida from Brooklyn, and aside from the pizza and bagels, I miss my neighborhood bakery the most!! The best pastries in the world!! I remember stopping at Aliotta's every Holiday, and there would always be a line around the corner!! Absolutely the best bakery on earth, and anyone who has a complaint about it might be expecting things that an italian bakery doesn't specialize in, or maybe they made a mistake.. It happens!! TRY THE PASTRIES!!! more

cakes and pastries 6/15/2006

We often go to Aliotta to get cakes , cookies, and pastries for special occasions. I usually order the birthday cakes for my kid's parties there. The cakes always taste really good but sometimes they have trouble decorating it the way I want. For example, we just ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and I said I wanted pink flowers. When I got the cake, not only were the flowers pink, but the piping around the top and bottom was bright pink. Too much pink! They put the year of her birthday after the word birthday and charged me an extra $8 just for some chocolate shavings around the outside. It was tasty though, and I guess that's what counts, but I even brought them a picture of exactly what I wanted so they would get it right and the girl gave it back to me. I should have learned from when they messed up her birthday cake last year, but I wanted to give them one more shot. more

Don't order a customized birthday cake! 7/15/2005

We have been going to Aliotta Pastry Shop for years and have always liked their pastries and cakes, and have ordered birthday cakes for the kids for several years also without a problem. However, for my daughter's recent birthday we had a disaster. I ordered a regular birthday cake and requested that they add some pieces of chocolate around the outside on the rim of the cake. They did it for every other cake and it was delicious. The sales girl seemed to understand what I wanted and the receipt said chocolate around the outside. When my husband brought her cake home on the day of the party, I almost passed out. It was the ugliest cake I have ever seen in my life. It had so much chocolate just drizzled ALL over the top of the cake that you couldn't even read what the cake said. The lettering was written in a disgusting bright purple color, and the flowers were or purple, pink and blue. On top of all this mess was multi-color confetti all over. I immediately called to complain and the girl tried to blame me by saying that I ordered something different. I told her the only thing I wanted different was a little chocolate around the outside. Is that so hard to understand? I finally got a store credit. I was so embarrassed to serve this cake and some of my guests laughed when they saw it. more
