Owners response to mominlaw1 now changed to Rhea b:\r While all bad reviews have our side untold we just let them go because most adults who work in this world are already aware there are crazy people out there.\r This one will not go untold. We made NO mistakes here. The juniors dress was really a flowergirl dress that the company quit making in a size 16 so it was decided to get the 14 and let it out at no charge. No mystery there.\r The bridesmaids dress on the other hand is a different story. When we take an order the customer initials the size and signs the contract. Often a girl will gain or lose weight and then try to blame us for ordering the wrong size. We cannot return dresses to the company, new ones must be paid for.\r When mominlaw1 came in with her daughter hollering they really wanted a size bigger we reviewed our notes, which we always keep, and it said she requested the 16 (no upcharge that way). Mom now insisted they wanted an 18. We measured the dress which would have fit perfectly compared to the measurements we had on file. \r The bridesmaid insisted she did not change size but got very upset when we needed to measure her again. Yes, the young lady did gain between 3 to 5 inches on each measurement. (bust-waist-hips)\r An 18 still would have been too small as she is now a 22. Since mominlaw1 told us she sews we told her how to alter it and how to get extra fabric.\r It is very unfair to blame us when the fault was clearly theirs. They had the ordering in writing, signed it twice and were given a copy.\r We don't care what size anyone is and we will be happy to get you whatever size you want and is available. We can't order anyone another dress for free if you lose, gain weight or get pregnant. They are not free or exchangeable. If we are ever at fault we always do our best to correct the problem. more

DO NOT GO TO ALAN EVAN’S BRIDAL FOR ANY PURPOSE. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND DO NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE BUSINESS THEY ARE IN. Save yourselves some heartache Brides. The store in Sioux Falls made mistake after mistake and gave excuse after excuse. I am the Maid of Honor and tried to deal with the situation to take some stress off of the bride. I went all the way to the owner and ended up being told that although everything was late, didn't fit and we had to order more sash which was late and also pay for it, that it wasn't the end of the world because it was 3 weeks before the wedding still, that I was terrible and had been horrible to everyone (apparently by fighting for being treated like a valued customer and not giving up on what you believe is right, that makes you a horrible person) and then she said, ""You get what you give. The ribbon is at the store. We didn't get charged enough for it anyway so go there and get it,"" and she hung up on me.\r \r The bride has gone through three months of stress because of this store. Don't let it happen to you. Give your business and your hard earned money to someone who cares to have it and will treat you that way before AND AFTER the dress is paid for and the contracts are signed. See Twitter, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau and the store reviews for more information and more details. I don't want ANYONE else to go through what we have.\r \r I see by reading other reviews that the similar situation has happened to many others, and in the responses from the owners, it seems like they take the same approach...attacking their customers. \r \r PLEASE BRIDAL PARTIES, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE. SAVE YOURSELVES TIME, MONEY AND STRESS. more

What a disappoinment! 5/8/2012

With one of the most important events in my soon to be daughter in-laws life, we found just recently that this place can not be trusted. We asked to order a specific size and unfortunately we were sent a smaller size. This did not just happen to one person in our party, but also a junior bridesmaid. Not knowing at the time that the dress that we asked for did not come in the size that we needed. We would have liked to have known all the information before we made an investment into something that would not fit! After buying the bridal gown, five bridesmaid dresses and three flower girl dresses at this store, we were hoping for all items to fit. After bringing my concerns to the staff to allow them to handle our concern at this time, a staff member decided to tell us that we were liars and that there was nothing they could do to resolve their mistake. They would not help us in resolving the issue at hand, so we are stuck with dresses that do not fit and now we have more headaches and expense involved to have our dresses altered to fit because they were ordered in the wrong size. My suggestion to woman who may be considering this store for all your wedding needs is not to shop at this store. If you dare shop here and find your dress at this store that is the ""one"" make sure you have all information in writing and check it twice! My daughter is getting married next april and I will take my own advice. We will not be shopping at Alan Evans Bridal in Moorhead, Minn.!!!!!! more

Terrible Customer Service 1/10/2012

I am ashamed to say I got my wedding dress here, however with no sales tax and loving the dress that the OWNER helped me with, I bit the bullet and got it. I would encourage the staff to visit any of the other bridal stores in town and experience what true customer service feels like. They were all by far above and beyond the service provided here. I wish I could have found something at another store that I loved just as much, or even almost as much, because I would have prefered to give them my business over Alan Evans. To anyone reading this, if you have not visited Alan Evans, I would encourage you to skip it. The other stores were so much more helpful and accomodating. The only way the staff will learn is to be made aware of their actions and appearance, and we can all see how well they responded to any sort of criticism.\r \r I experienced the following:\r Staff wearing no shoes and dressed in sweats and t-shirts.\r I walked in one afternoon, no other customers were in the store. After recieving several blank stares from the staff, I said I was there to try on some wedding gowns. The staff then argued about who had to help me. They all tried to pass the buck onto another, right in front of me. I should have seen what was to come and walked out right then and there.\r Myself and a friend were put in a room. As I was trying on a dress, they put another customer in there, and at least ten of her family and friends. I stepped out to look at my dress in the mirror and found myself to have very little room to move around with all of the people. I was taking off the dress when I noticed the curtain was not closing completely and the other bride's father, uncle, and brother, cousin, whomever the two were, sitting directly out seeing me undress. When I asked to move to a different room, it was like pulling teeth. I then STATED that I was moving to another room, much to the sales(if you can call her that) woman's dislike. Might I add, NONE of the other rooms were filled, we were the only two brides in the store trying on gowns. I was told it just wasn't conveinent for her. Umm.... I don't care what is conveinent for you. \r This same saleswoman put a fake hair piece in a ponytail on my head. I'm sorry, but I do not like the idea of some old fake hair piece that has been in who knows how many other peoples hair, in mine. No thanks. Please ask next time you try and do something like that.\r One of the dresses I loved had a giant stain on the front that I was told, if I get it, they can probably get it out. Otherwise I would have had to pay a substantial amount more to order a new one. How does a wedding dress store get so many gross ugly stains on it's dresses?!??! \r Alas, I am a 30 year old woman, not a child. Please do not refer to me as sweetie and honey. I don't know you, you don't know me. Please refer to me in a more professional manner.\r \r \r I have never experienced such poor customer service from a store, ever. \r The unfortunate part, is that you find dresses here that you will not find at other stores in the FM area. \r Managment needs to do some serious training and set standards and make sure they are kept. If not, fire your staff and rehire more qualified, friendly people. There are people out there that would actually appreciate the job and their customers.\r \r I have never written a review in my life, good or bad. I've always felt it would take a lot for me to do so. That is the truth in this case.\r more

Worst Bridal Shop Ever!!!! 6/26/2011

DO NOT waste your time looking for dresses here. I first got there and wasn't greeted at all! The place is old and grungy and smelt like somebody had died in there. I was going to try on wedding dresses, The lady was very rude and short with me, almost like she wasnt looking for my business. She didn't wear any shoes and was in clothes that I wouldn't even wear around my house. She rolled her eyes everytime she had to pull a new dress and asked me if I even like dresses, just because there dresses were gross! They had huge stains on the wedding dresses and they smelled like they had been smoked around. The real kicker for me was, I went on there website and liked the first dress that they were advertising. She gave me a size 6 to try on.....I am a size 12 so needless to say i cudn't even get it on. She then proceeded to tell me that even though it was a small size it would look the same if I got the right size! OK ANYONE who says that probably shouldn't have a job at a clothes place! She told me that iff you wear something 6 sizes too small it will look the same as if you wear something that is your size......I didn't know whether to laugh or what. I have no idea how this place is still open, it seriously should be shut down! Horrible Experience, HORRIBLE place to go! more

Best Service of every store I have been to 4/1/2011

I loved it at Alan Evans! I got the most wonderful wedding gown there and had so much fun! My bridesmaids loved their dresses even my pregnant one. We had lots of help and it was like going to visit friends whenever I went there. Amanda was my consultant and she was so sweet. I had a great experience there. It;s the first place to go. more

Great Dress, Possiably the worst Customor service in FM area 4/30/2009

This was the 1st place I went to try on dresses, it was pretty helpful the 1st time around, I ended up liking the dresses that the woman helping me picked out, who also is their Semesters, I found THE dress, but alas too spendy for my budget. __________________________________________________________________________________ I waited a few days, went to other shops in the area but NOTHING compared to the shock and awe of THE DRESS. I decided to make a return visit by myself, on a weekday around 2-3pm. just to see if the dress was still as stunning as I thought it was in my head. _________________________________________________________________________________ When I came in the store I was greeted by everyone eating, something?, I told them I had come back and I would like to try on the dress again. I was the one to find it, not them. the lady took it from me and put it in the dressing room, told me to call here when I was ready, no help. before she rushed out I asked for a crenilin. I was in the dress in no time, looking in the mirror it was still stunning, I waited to have her come back near the room before I just walked out, I had to nearly shout to get her to come in and zip me up. I asked if I could have a vail, she gets me WHITE the dress is soooo not white. and insists i put my hair up with this nasty hair scrunchy thing... says do you like it? yes I reply, she walks out leaving me there looking at this ridiculous head thing and the gorgeous dress that I want to buy if i got the right vibe but NO, i had to sit in the room for 3 minutes before I had to shout for someone to get me out of it and it was not even the woman helping me it was a different gal. ______________________________________________________________________________ Point of Rant, it is NOT worth the disrespect to go. Pros: Gourgous Dresses, nice lighting, designer on sight Cons: Service, price, cluttered more
