Editorial review from Citysearch 3/19/2014

This place is a gem in Oakley square. I remember my mom taking me there when I was little and have been obsessed ever since. The ice cream is delicious- cinnamon is my absolute favorite- and the seasonal specialties are amazing.\r \r They have a whole case in the Hyde Park Kroger location so I can pick some up when I'm grocery shopping, too. (Extra bonus points for being very close to where I live!) If you're looking for a delicious dessert with classic old world charm, this is your place! more

Aglamesis Brothers is a tasty treat 8/29/2009

I can't even type this review without drooling. If you want something wonderful and decadent, come here. Another gem in the Oakley square shopping experience. more

Best ice cream, no contest! 8/29/2008

The quality of this ice cream is unsurpassed. It is always completely creamy and flavorful. The sundaes have just the right amount of toppings to feel pampered without losing the flavor of the ice cream. The service is always fast and friendly, but on 3 occasions in the last 3 months, at least one person in the party had something incorrect with their sundae order (wrong flavor of ice cream, missing a topping, completely different sundae). There is free parking in a lot a few feet east of the restaurant, and the ambience has a charming French Quarter appeal. Pros: Great quality food, charming ambience Cons: Service has had mistakes more

The BEST ice-cream I have ever had!!! 4/17/2006

Excellent ice cream, great surroundings 11/6/2005

Aglamesis in Cincinnati is a great ice cream shop. The pink and white stripes are very reminiscent of an old fashioned ice cream parlor. They have little wrought iron chairs and tiny tables to sit at while you eat. Handmade candies and delicious creamy ice creams at excellent prices. Be sure to try the Cincinnati chocolate bars - delicious! A treat for anyone visiting the city, or any locals. more

cincinnati's ice cream 6/12/2004

this place has the best chocolate malts i've ever had, and i am of the opinion that, with their beautiful presentation and cute ambience, aglamesis' is much better than cincinnati' graeter's. Pros: cute, great quality, inexpensive Cons: , not enough workers more

flavorful and creamy! 9/22/2002

I think Aglamesis Brothers is the best ice cream and is overlooked by die hard Cincinnati-born Graeter fans. I'm impartial, having transplanted to Cincinnati 7 years ago, and believe that Aglamesis Brothers is quite possibly the best ice cream in the world! more

First democracy and now Ice Cream 8/8/2002

Yet another great contribution by the Greeks, along with Democracy and Cincinnati Chili. Hands down, best ice cream in town, no matter what Oprah may say. more

I LUV Aglamesis! 8/7/2002

Smoooooth. Creamy! Delicious! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM! YUM! more

Travel back in time! 7/24/2002

This place is one of Cincinnati's treasures and well worth finding. Virtually unchanged for decades, its one of the last true ice cream parlors in the United States. They only have two locations and the family that started the place something like 100 years ago still has a hand in day-to-day operation. Pros: Lost in time, great ice cream, Candies more

Childhood memories 7/23/2002

I remember when I was a kid and my father was very sick, driving to Aglamesis for a soda. Not your everyday soda but a fountain soda. "bubbly" water real strawberries and of course a cherry. Dad and his 6 kids all around the table, having a great time at a great place. They still have the best chocolate chip cones any where. They are well worth the 25 mile one way trip it takes. Thanks for the memories Pros: still the same, old time look Cons: not one in KY more

  • The story begins during the late 1800’s in the beautiful, Old World countryside outside of Sparta, Greece. It was here that Thomas Aglamesis left his home at age sixteen to seek opportunity. He was the eldest son of his recently deceased father, and Thomas now had the financial responsibility of taking care of his large family. He settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. A year later, his brother Nicholas joined him. The brothers learned the tricks of the ice cream trade working in downtown Cincinnati within the “Old Arcade”. Eventually, they saved up enough money to establish their own business.
