Affordable Fun 10/3/2005

"The Admiral" is located on the North End of California in West Seattle. They typically run good movies which have seen their day and have ceased running on the major circuit. The Admiral brings them back at an affordable price for all (one price fits all). The ticket prices is the same for everyone and for every showing. The theaters are not elegant but more than adequate and the snackbar is even affordable (or at least more affordable than most). more

date night 9/22/2005

This place is fun. Good prices and an ok movie selection in a great old theater. The seats are a little uncomfortable, but that is my only complaint! It is far better then trekking downtown into the crowed movie theaters around Pacific Place! more

Recent movies in a historic theater 9/9/2005

The Admiral Twin has been around forever. My grandmother sold popcorn when she was a teen - she is 75 now! They usually get movies after they've been out for awhile, but the prices are pretty decent. They usually have one movie geared toward the kid crowd and one for the adult crowd. There are plenty of places nearby for dinner before the show. This is a classic old style theater, which can be a little chilly in winter! It is a fun & funky night out! more

Simple and dependable 8/21/2005

A second-run movie theater and West Seattle’s primary movie theater, the Admiral is gigantic and full of personality to match. Seldom too crowded, you’ll easily find the perfect seat in their spacious, sloped auditoriums. Showing a wide mix of family-friendly fare that appeals to tots, teenagers, and parents, the Admiral is perfect for a rainy (or overly sunny) day. more

Cheap Date Destination 8/19/2005

If you're a movie buff who loves to date but has a tight budget, this is a great destination. You can view second run movies and a low low price, and wander around West Seattle. Or, you can even go to Alki first, and then cool off in the movie theater with your sweetheart. Plus, it has that old school look that adds to the charm. more

Affordable second runs 8/17/2005

The Admiral Theater is a great movie theater that shows slightly older films at a great price. For $4.50 you can still catch that hit movie before it comes out on video. The theaters are small, but clean, and the concession stand is passable, but you can't beat the price. The only movie theater in West Seattle, the Admiral is a great old timey movie theater in a great location. Hopefully it will be able to stay around for many years to come. It's close to lots of restaurants so you can make a date out of it. more

A West Seattle Institution 8/16/2005

I love the Admiral Theatre, grew up with it. This second-run movie house is still a good value, although I can still remember the days of $2 tickets. Nice, big screens in two theaters, and movies are worth going to if only for the truly odd slides they pop on the screen before a feature . . . it looks like the reject slides pulled from a family vacation to Hawaii in the late 70's, all blurry shots of tropical flowers and upside-down photos of palm trees. Check it out and see what you think. Even though the theater is falling apart in many ways; the curtain lined walls are falling down in many places and many of the seats are broken . . . they are oddly very touchy about putting your feet up on the seat in front of you and will forcibly tell you to remove them. The theater also features an ICEE machine that usually has a "white cherry" flavor, which is awesome because it is white, so you don't dye your tongue, but you get all the cherry flavor you might expect. As as befitting the name Admiral, there is a shipshape air about the place. Movies Ahoy! more

Big Theater, Small Price 6/16/2005

If you can wait for some of the blockbuster hits to come off the major theaters, then Admiral is the place to catch them before they go to dvd. Its a great old landmark West Seattle theater with a great price. Never a big crowd, the screen and sound are excellent. more

Great neighborhood theater! 6/12/2005

Missed a film in its rounds? Watch for it to appear here before the wait to DVD. With out busy lifestyles, we often don't make it to movies when they come out and yet I would still rather see fims on the big screen. When this happens I look and hope for it to appear here! This neighborhood theater has bargain priced shows for all showings and the films are usually not that old. I do love that they bring in all the good kids movies too! more

Local Movie Theater 4/19/2005

The Admiral in W Seattle shows nearly first run movies and charges far less than most theaters. Not sure of their current pricing. It's a great place to see kid's movies too. We took our three year old to see The Incredibles and Shark Tale. The place is huge and the showtimes are flexible enough that we weren't bothering people with a chatty movie-goer. W Seattle is nothing if not kid-friendly. It's also a bit of a relic in W Seattle, neat architecture, cool old seats, feels like a real theater. more
