Honest and True 4/7/2012

Don't listen to those who rate this company low. I was reluctant to go here because of the low rating. Then I checked Angies List and the ratings were good. I had a Zojirushi hot water dispenser stop working (wife warmed ""butter"" on top of it and forgot about it, then the butter leaked behind the control panel and caused it to stop functioning). My Japanese wife is into ""eko"" (Japanese for being ""environmental friendly"") so she wanted to repair. Me, I would just buy a new one. However, as they say, happy wife, happy life (bummer for us dudes than nothing good rhymes with ""husband""). So, I cringed and called to ""repair"" what I consider a disposable device (didn't even think there were any non-asian folk that would repair such a thing). Bottom line: They quoted me $15 bucks to inspect and promised a firm fixed price quote to repair after inspection (of which the $15 would go towards). Sounded fair to me. I dropped off (BTW the girl who works there is a babe) and less than a week later, Mike called me with an estimate. $79 bucks. Like I said, I would buy a new one (only $120 from amazon) but don't want my Japanese wife cutting me off (she too is a babe so kinda like to keep her happy if ya know what I mean), so $79 was a fair deal. Picked it up and Mike had even cleaned it all up to boot (unexpected as I did not ask to clean it). My experience with Mike was OUTSTANDING. He is fair, honest and true. Nostalgic of an appliance repair shop of the days of yore. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. DON'T LISTEN TO THE NEGATIVES as that is NOT what I experienced. Note that after living in Japan (where ""customer is GOD"") I am never impressed with American service and mostly a harsh critic of it. Not at this place. Action Small Appliance is EXCELLENT!!!! more

Crooks and Thieves 3/2/2012

The owner of this business is both a liar and a thief. I took my Bosch vacuum to him to get repaired as the beater bar had stopped working. A week after I dropped it off, he finally called me saying that the vacuum was irreparable due to the fact of where the breakdown had taken place and that Bosch never intended for the vacuum to broken down that far to be repaired. I said that didn't seem right to which he replied, ""well you aren't a vacuum expert now are you?"" Quite frankly I was shocked at his remark both in content and tone. He then told me that he just happened to have the shell of my exact vacuum and that he was going to give me a ""great deal"" for switching the guts of my vacuum into the shell of his. He quoted me $99.99. I thought to myself, are you freaking kidding me? I went in later that day and picked up my ""broken"" vacuum. Needless to say I called Bosch and they confirmed that this guy was full of it and that every component in their products are replaceable/repairable. They emailed me the parts diagrams for my model number and so I tore it apart. If it is truly broken what harm could I do to it. I found that one of the wires insulation had worn through and was grounding out on the beater bar motor. $.09 later my vacuum was miraculously fixed. So Michael King, who is the vacuum expert now, bitch? In closing, DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE LIED TO AND/OR CHEATED OUT OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. more

Very professional 10/29/2011

I had to send my Rowenta Iron to Action for a warrenty repair. When I called to see if it arrived safely, the person I talked to was nice and let me know everything was fine and they would be looking at it that week. By the end of the week I recieved a phone call from Robin letting me know that my iron was unfixable and they were forwarding the information on to Rowenta. She also offered to help me if I did not recieve my iron in a timely matter. I am happy with the outcome of the situation and would recommend Action Small Appliance Sales for any repairs. more

Very Knowledgable 5/24/2011

I have been shopping and going to Action for advice and parts for years! I love knowing there is a local shop like this I can support when I have any issues with my small appliances! I have numerous appliances: KitchenAid stand mixer, vacuume, and espresso machine that I have either gotten serviced or bought misc. parts and accessories for. They always seem to have the odd ball parts that no one else has! more

Expert Service 6/20/2010

I have done business with Action Small Appliance for decades. I have purchased new small appliances from Mike, and have taken items there for repair. Each time, without fail, I received a quote, friendly advice, and a call to pick up my item when it was done. I never had anything other than a great experience so am mystified by those reported by some others. Since I am a business owner too, I spoke to the owners and discussed my numerous positive experiences and also the comments that spoke to different outcomes. I am very comfortable recommending Action to friends and family based on my experiences. Pros: Friendly, courteous, deliver as promised more

A very good repair shop 5/10/2010

I have a 10 year old Krupps espresso maker that just wont quit. Mine is white, which a lot of places don't carry. I call ahead to see if the part (usually the glass carafe)is available. The gentleman there has always been helpful. Today I called them up to see if they had a new cord for my son's shaver. I spoke to a young girl this time, and she was very pleasant. The items I take there list Action Appliance as a qualified repair center by the manufacturer, if that makes any difference. Pros: Parts available or quickly obtained Cons: None yet more

Not Rude 2/15/2010

To be fair, I found the guy at the front desk and in phone calls to be pleasant enough. Not rude. He answered all my questions. Pros: informative Cons: cluttered store more

Stay Away 2/10/2010

Take your appliance somewhere where they will listen to what is wrong and then fix it....Five weeks they had it and sent it back to me without repairing the problem. Cons: No respect and terrible service more

Avoid the hassle 11/4/2009

My Kitchenaid mixer's motor isn't running correctly. I called to ask how much it would cost to get a repair. He said he couldn't tell me until he looked at it. I then asked him if the whole motor would need to be replaced what would be the coast as I don't want to pay a repair cost equal to replacement cost of a new mixer. I figured a full motor replacement would be the worse case scenario. The guy refused to tell me how much it would cost or what his labor fees are. He did say he charges $20 just to bring it in. I found him very unhelpful and rude. I did call some certified Kitchenaid repair shops in Seattle and they were very helpful with labor charges, etc. I recognize that a trip over the bridge is a hassle to get a repair, but after reading the reviews I think it is the wisest thing to do. Cons: Rude, not helpful more

Horrible experience 10/26/2009

The place was recommended to me by Kitchenaid as Kitchenaid certified repair shop. I read reviews, which weren't too great, before I called. I decided to give it a try anyway. I was shocked! The guy was so rude, almost psychotic. When I asked him to be polite he got even worse and then out of the blue started laughing. I don't understand how they manage to stay in business. I called back Kitchenaid to complain. Cons: Rude, unprofessional, antisocial more

Be aware: this man is not normal 9/26/2009

This is a ""flame on"" personality. Very nasty. Very ugly. I am a calm non-confrontational person and feel hurt and angry about his behavior with me as his customer. I left a small appliance which was under warrantee. You should make a note on your receipt of the date you dropped off your appliance. Then you'll want to make a note of when he predicts he'll finish the work. On that very day you'll need to start calling. Expect nasty replies, lies, excuses and flaming bad temper. If you go to his shop bring someone along as your witness. I will never go back, have told everyone I know about my shocking experience and advise you to at least be armed if you need to go there. more

I'd rather throw it away than take it here. 8/21/2009

I wish I could give them no stars. If these people had some competition, perhaps they would at least be civil to you. Cons: rude and arrogant more

Owner has antisocial personality disorder 1/16/2009

I agree with others, owner is a total D-head. I asked him if they charged a basic fee for looking at the appliance and he said no. But he said, WE DO charge a fee if you want it put back together before we send it to you. He doesn't try to hide the sarcasm in his voice at all. I'm sure the guy rarely, if ever, gets layed. more

Action Small Appliance Bellevue 6/25/2008

I had an okay experience here. I took my vacuum in and it was repaired under warantee, but they did take longer than I expected. Their appliance ""bedside manner"" isn't the best, but I don't really expect charm school quality from the blender guy, either. I'm going back to get my steamer repaired -- wish me luck! Will let you know. more

Keep this bad service away, for more happy customers! 6/9/2008

I totally agree with previous reviewers who rated 1 star for this store. I'd better to skip my story since I start to be angry when I recall the experience. Just don't know how it can still survive as it keeps hurting people who help it to run its business. The owner/employee is one of the rudest and dishonest men that I ever met. Very bad service at all. If you have left your small electronics in his room, you'd better forget it and buy a new one so you can save your strength and make you self happy. If you insist to have your item fixed there, please don't try to contact him. Otherwise, please prepare to get tons of lies (whenever you call him, he just start to fix your item), junks, and rude words which can help you have a very bad day... File a compliant to better busniess to keep this bad service away, for more happy customers! more

Worst attitude and customer service ever seen 4/30/2008

Agree with first reviewer completely. more

Don't Trust Them!! 4/3/2008

Terrible customer services. They really don't know anything about vacuums. It takes them over a week just to do an assessment of what's wrong with the vacuum, but in reality they are reading the manuals in order to figure out what's wrong with it. Cons: don't know what they are doing, poor customer more

Action Small Appliance - RUDE, LIARS, INCOMPETENT - Action Small Appliance 1/30/2008

Action Small Appliance are the rudest, most incompetent, lying bullies you will ever have the misfortune of talking to. These apes have no business working on any appliance more complicated than a hammer. When they answer the phone, they talk to you like they are doing you a favor and then yell if you ask any questions about the repair. I hope you never have to talk to these troglodytes or have your appliance ruined by them. The guy on the phone lives with his mommy and wets the bed at night. HOW THESE PEOPLE STAY IN BUSINESS IS A TRUE MYSTERY. STAY AWAY. Pros: I never have to deal with them again Cons: I regret the day I found these lying, incompetent apes more

Not one star review at all... 12/18/2007

No stars at all...over the years the few times I've had anything to do with this business was because I couldn't find what I needed online. How these rude ****** have remained in business since 1980 is beyond me. And if you google ""action small appliance seattle"" you'll find a bounty of folks unhappy enough to put pen to paper (type to screen). In the two dozen I read, not one single review was positive. Pros: Nothing that I can see... Cons: Extraordinarily and consistently rude to customers... more
