ACE AUTO CARE is a comprehensive auto care and repair shop and a favored 'institution' in Santa Ana. The owner Jose is a personable expert on Auto Care. Mechanics at Ace Auto are bright and efficient. They fixed a complex engine problem at 2/3 the cost and half the time estimated at another shop. \r \r Jose's dad ran the shop when it was called ACE MUFFLER. US Representative Bob Dornan of late night C-Span fame was a fan and helped them retain the shop as Santa Ana went through redevelopment of Main Street. They are still exhaust specialists and reffered to by local auto dealers for aftermarket care and known by the high end racing crowd as the best at their craft. \r .\r Excellent Shop. \r Highly recommended. \r Reasonable Parts and Labor \r Pros: Skilled craftsmen. I brought my 2003 Maxima in for a complex drivability problem and although they realized it was hard to figure out they promised that they would do all kinds of diagnostics until they figured out the problem.\r \r I make it a point about how the Nissan dealerships could not figure out the problem and just gave up but they promised they would figure it out.\r \r They claimed that owner "" Jose "" was an exhaust genius and "" George "" a diagnostic guru and they'd be able to figure out the problem for sure.\r \r After taking a day off to bring in my car at the scheduled day I was told by "" George "" that he no longer wants to work on the issue and that I should take my car to the dealership because they don't have time.\r \r Don't get me wrong, for all I know they may be really good at oil changes and installing an exhaust muffler but they are far from anything special and they betrayed me, wasted my entire day, they don't know how to really fix cars with any passion.\r \r Sure, these guys can do your oil change but would you really want to give your business to a bunch of liars?\r I would much rather recommend taking your car to Jiffy Lube because at least they don't claim to be able to do anything other than oil changes.
