My boyfriend and I stumbled in here without reservations a while back not really knowing what it was other than Italian food. We called before we left the apartment to see if we needed reservations and the guy kind of just sighed and said, ""come in, we'll seat you."" And when we got there I saw why - it's just the type of place you should make reservations for even if it's not necessarily going to be packed.
They invited us to have a drink at the bar while we waited and when we turned to the bar, they redirected us to sit down and they served us instead - nice touch. The waiter also brought us chunks of fresh parmesan out of their giant cheese wheel - delicious! So we were seated shortly after and then the real experience began. There were flambes going on all around us with fish and dessert which kept it interesting and the waiter was a character (but in a good way) although he was Albanian and not Italian but had zero effect on anything, just was surprised. I ordered the ravioli and I think I got the wrong dish since there was also a ravioli special that night but no big deal since it was good. We did the flambe dessert and I recommend that if it's still on the menu. They wheel out this cart and tell you what they're doing as they do it and then ""flames!"" and then more ingredients and then more ""flames!"" so it was fun. We ended up being there for like 2 hours and I loved it. It was an expensive evening with wine before, a bottle during and dessert and grappa, but I'd recommend doing exactly that. So great!
Pros: Experience, atmosphere, food, wait staff
Cons: decor is kinda cheesy, expensive but worth it
