Scammer one day, scammer all the time 1/25/2010

You get what you paid for with "Absolute Power", low price, poor quality of equipment and abysmal customer service. I tried to join on a Sunday afternoon, after filling the application, the credit card machine could not read my visa card, so my accound was not debited. I was asked to come back the next day, whereupon I was supposed to receive my tag and my picture would have been taken for the database. I never came back, so all this never happened. Surprise, surprise.... more than nine months later, I received a collection letter from "Absolute Power" for a contract that never even came into effect! And to add insult to injury: instead of apologising flatly for their mistake, "Absolute Power" followed up with a phone call, where I was yelled at!! There is no phone number for the management, and not even an address to write too!! I guess "Absolute Power" has not changed a bit since their 2007 attempt to scam 650 customers!! Check this from the Attorney General's website: http://www.ag.ny.gov/media_center/2007/jul/jul3a_07.html more

Great Gym, lots of open spaces, little or no wait time 7/25/2005

Absolute Power in located in a basement on Grand Street, but don't let that fool you. It's a great open space, lined with mirrors, with bunches and bunches of weight machines and rows of stationary bikes and treadmills. Wait times for machines are generally short, if there's one at all, and although I wouldn't serve meal off the floor of the locker room, it is clean. There's a separate rooms for fitness classes, and the best part is that people are there to work out, not to stare at each other. I don't recall exactly what the membership fee is, but it's less than a lot of the big name city gyms. more
