Pretty lousy place. They've probably got the stuff you're looking for at MSRP. The staff is nasty to customers and makes you wait while they talk to each other. If you ask the wrong person a question, they may give you attitude or they may make fun of you to your face. I asked the one guy about weathering and he said ""buy a book on it"" and walked away, the other people working just laughed. I don't bother with them anymore. more

Perhaps not ""miserable to the core"" 6/7/2011

I haven't had any problem with AAA. I usually run in and out to grab supplies and so aren't too concerned with the ""scene"" of the whole place, but they have what I need usually and are closer to my house than other stores. more

Best Hobby store ever 5/14/2011

Hello fellow reviewers! I have absolutely no idea what you other guys are talking about. They have great customer service . They have lots of models in the store front, and 10,000s in the warehouse! I would recommend this place to anyone. more

Great stock, maybe I can shed some light. 8/18/2010

If you are looking for hobbies, AAA has it all. Many say the staff is miserable, they do lack some customer service skills, that is true. Bill is a great guy that will talk your ear off, I go on a Thursday when he is off. Carol is a good person when you get to know her. Bret, is a cool dude when he gets to know you and knows a lot about models. Steve is just an all around unhappy guy, just talk to him about music and he will be ok for the time being, but then he will call you a jerk after you leave. There is no help for Steve. more

Explanation for baffled disgruntled customers 7/8/2010

Most of the reviewers are understandably confused as to why the staff is so miserable. A good start at an answer is that they are obviously allowed to be. There is no way a business that is based on customer service could allow its employees to be so unfriendly and uncooperative after so many years, unless of course the store's profit were irrelevant to the owner. You may ask ""how is that possible?"" You mightve noticed that the store itself actually makes up very little of the grounds. Behind the store is one of the largest hobby merchandise and supplies in the world, though you might not think it. They are in fact the sole US distributor of Trumpeter models, a popular German model maker. The warehouse is the real money maker, the store is merely a ""front"" that enables the owner to locate his business at its current (presumably cheap) location. The residents of the area protested the business being allowed to stay in their neighborhood so the owner set up the store strictly for the purpose of maintaining the location. As a result, the store profits, and consequently customer satisfaction is of no importance whatsoever. This also means that unfortunately the store will never go out of business. Also people ask if the staff is so unhappy doing what they do why do it? As a fellow miserable person I can tell you they are truly miserable people at their core. And what better place to be employed than one that pays you to be miserable and rude? tips if you find yourself forced to return there: Brett: is very knowledgable about WWII vehicles, and rc cars...though not the friendliest even at his best he will warm to you if share his interests. Steve: a real prick, but if you slip music playing in the conversation it MAY help old broad: no idea, as far as i know nothing will help you with her. she is to be avoided at all costs more

I had a great experience 5/16/2010

I have no idea what the other reviewrs are talking about, I was looking for something specific, the lady there told me about their stock and all the things they have on hand. I picked things out of the big book, the guy went and got them quickly and they were exactly what I needed. The staff was friendly, though most of them were in conversations with various customers about projects, but I never got any bad vibes. I have found my place for terrain and models as needed that;s for sure! The place is easy to find, lots of parking and TONS of stuff! Pros: large stock on hand of what I needed Cons: Could spend hours walking around more

Spent too Much Money & Time for the Lousy Service 3/8/2010

I've been going to AAA Hobbies since it opened. I finally had it and will no longer go back. The service is rude and many of the prices are marked up above retail. I can't understand why the employees are so miserable. The same ones for years. I don't think they really care because they are a distributor also. Pros: Large Stock Cons: Everything Else more

AAA hobbies: absolute worst in people and customer service s 2/20/2010

I have been an avid modeler and military hobbyist for many years. When I first arrived to New Jersey, I ventured out and found AAA hobbies. I was very impressed with their stock and variety of items. That is, unfortunately where the positives end. It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to arrive there only to receive awful service. The employees there do not care about how they deal with customers, do not appear to want to answer your questions, or even try to help you. Just today I thought I would call about an item I interested in and the person on the other seemed as though he was in a rush to get me off the phone. Most of their items are ridiculously overpriced and can be found elsewhere. Every time I drive to this store, I leave with an even greater sense of disappointment and anger than the last time I visited. As a result of my bad experience with one of their employees and terrible service, I will not shop there ever again. Nor would I recommend anyone to. If they could read this, they probably wouldn't care or change their awful ""customer relations"" habits Please consider buying online or shop elsewhere. AAA hobbies is just not worth the time, effort, and money it takes to deal with this lousy store. Pros: none. Cons: attitude, ability to assist you, and poor customer relations more

Lots of merchandise, however, staff was unfriendly and unwilling to help. Customer service is horrible. 11/1/2008

My family and I have recently gotten into hobbies such as model rockets and Traxxas RC trucks. Our experience from shopping at AAA has been that the staff was really not interested in anything other than taking our money at the register. They did not have a friendly personality and didn't seem like they really wanted to be bothered with answering any questions that we had. They did not greet us as we walked in the door, either. The man behind the counter seemed very miserable and like he would rather be anywhere other than at work. I just don't understand how they could have stayed in business for so many years treating their customers the way that they do. If I have a choice, I will not shop at AAA Hobbies. I would sooner drive to the next closest hobbie shop 45 minutes away in Sweedsboro to get what I need with exceptional customer service than to drive the 10 minutes to be shunned by the staff of AAA Hobbies. If you hate what you do, then why do you do it? Pros: Lots of stuff Cons: Poor customer service, very unfriendly, very unhelpful. Surprizing for a family owned business. more

Knowledgeable, but unhelpful 9/15/2008

I had been to this store as a kid when I was addicted to Japanese robot models. They were always pretty cool about letting a little kid browse around. Pros: Knowledgeable staff Cons: Iron Curtain policies more
