After making a reservation a week in advance and calling to confirm several days before we arrived at the restaurant in time for our 9 pm reservation only to be told they didn't have our reservation and the wait for a table was more than an hour. The hostesses we unapologetic despite a cell phone call log that proved we had called when we said we did. She was conviced we were lying and it wasn't her problem. After much fuss and getting the manager's attention, we were seated after 30 minutes. During that time, we waited in the bar and the hostess happily came in to show us that our reservation was actually for Saturday night. It was clearly a mistake since Saturday night was Lobsterfest and no one would have made a reservation when Duval Street was filled with Florida lobster dishes at half the price. Again, she was sure we had arrived on the wrong night. Our waiter seemed to be bothered that we arrived. The lobster bisque was bland and tasteless without a hint of fish base or sherry. There was too much thickener. I left much of it in my bowl, which is unusual. My dining companion did the same. The Flordia lobster was over cooked and the resulting texture was closer to chicken than lobster. My companion ordered a grouper dish that came piled on a mound of grey mashed potatoes and layered with a grey crab cake and then topped with fried onions. My companion left most of it on his plate. Service was generally inattentive, and our waiter did not check to see if we were enjoying our dinners. If he had, another diner in the party would have reported that her lobster was over cooked and close to inedible. By 10:30 when we received our entrees, we were all to tired and beat up to complain. And, dissapointingly, the manager never made even a token gesture of apology. It would have been appropriate to have sent over a drink during our wait, dessert for the table, or, at the very least, paid us a visit to see how our dinner was progressing. Sloppy work all around.
Pros: Outside tables are on the water
Cons: Many steep steps to climb to reach restaurant; Food very mediocre; service inattentive and amaturish
