British Sensations 2/21/2011

British Sensations has moved! My wife and I had driven over to the new location and it's great. Much more centrally located and they have plenty of great ideas for the place. The house in Bracken seemed quite old and grungy, but they seem to be on the right track with this place. Looking forward to going and checking it out again when they are fully open more

Good Hearty Food 9/14/2010

On a recent Saturday I decided to pick up lunch for myself and my parents. I wanted to try British Sensations for some Brit food. I called ahead and ordered the Fish and Chips, a Sausage Roll plate and the Shepherd?s Pie to go. It was all ready when I arrived. I was running ten minutes later then I expected and the food was still hot and smelled excellent. I had the shepherd pie which was an excellent and hearty fair with a flavorful layer of melted cheese on top and the accompanying baked beans were mildly sweet and a good complement. This is not light fair but a generous portion of pie and beans. I shared a bit with my dinner companions and they declared it excellent as well. I wanted to try the sausage roll with the intriguing sauce but I couldn't pry one out of my father?s hands before he had finished them off. My mother enjoyed her fish and chips (fries) but couldn't finish it all so I sampled the fish which was also crispy fried delight. Portions were all generous and food was hot and hearty. My chief delight was not finding the food over salted like so many restaurants favor. My chief complaint would have to be I will need to order my own sausage roll next time when I return so I can sample the taste of one, and not just the pleasing aroma that my Dad provided me with along with his satisfied smile. more

Sucks 6/3/2010

This is the worst place to spend your money. I watched as the owner took food off the shelves to serve for her restaurant. She then tacked on an extra thirty percent just to stick a pie in the microwave. Save your time and don?t bother going there (unless you want to see a fat lady who said she is the owner squeeze into the tightest clothes she could find). Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

RATS!!!!! 11/9/2009

My girlfriend asked me to take her to this ?British Tearoom? for her birthday. I was happy to until; they sat us down and from under the table next to ours came two rats running around! I pointed this out to the woman who was helping us and she responded like it was part of the daily activities there by saying that they have been trying to get rid of them for some time now. I went to pick up my girlfriends purse off the floor and made the mistake of looking at the wood floor next to wall. There I saw rat droppings all along the floor. STAY AWAY, STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

British Sensaions Not A Sensation 7/30/2009

British Sensations at Bracken Village is in such a great location... Perusing shops and finishing with a nice high tea or meal makes for a special day. I'm not sure what is going on at BS, however. I have great memories about my visit when it was Bawdsey Manor, but my recent visit to BS was a dissapointment. I called a few days in advance and arranged for High Tea to be served for us. When we arrived, a table was nicely set and waiting for us. Hot Tea was brought out, but we were never offered a choice of what kind of tea we wanted... The food was delivered in haste with no explanation as to what kinds of finger sandwiches were being served... Then staff disappeared for over 30 minutes so we had to locate someone to ask for fresh tea. The sandwiches were marginal with crusts left on. The sweeter items had the texture and taste of items that had been frozen and thawed, although the whipped cream was nice and fresh. There was an offensive mincemeat pie that was from a package - It has Christmas decorations on it, but our visit was in early July... The grand finish was our having to go stand in the reception area to wait to pay for our meals. It's just so sad...there is so much potential for a tea room or restaurant in this location, but British Sensations is delivering less than sensational food and service . Pros: Fun Location and Ambiance Cons: Food, Tea and service more

Save your money 5/30/2009

I was told by a relative of the owner that she buys most of her English bacon and other foods from Fiesta Market in Austin and most of her candy and soups from the HEB on the North side of Austin of HWY 35. If your near Austin, just stop and buy it yourself and save 50% more

British Sensations = Sensational 2/9/2009

My wife and I also ate at the Dickens Night. After we where able to speak to the owner and found that she had limited time to put something together and to also work out of a location that was not her own. I must say that we where highly impressed by the taste and quantity of food. Hope to go again soon more

bad british food 12/6/2008

We ate their food at Bracken Dickens Village. The food was awful and they did not seem to care how bad it was. The just said they were doing the Bracken Village a favor. Meanwhile, we are out $43 for 2 inedible dinners. more

Taking home A little Great Britain 1/15/2005

Red Hat Society ladies will enjoy the cozy atmosphere nestled in this delightful shop. Not only does British Sensations carry items from Great Britain and the abroad, but they have two darling tea rooms. There are many gift items, and grocery items that can possibly cheer up a home sick friend. It's a shop that one can possibly spend hours browsing about. I recommend trying their array of finger sandwiches, maybe call ahead 24 hours for High Tea, so you can have that, Desserts and a pot of tea. Pros: friendly staff, ample seating, authentic more
