AFG is my absolute favorite place to relax and study. I don't drink coffee, but the hot cocoa is great, as are the smoothies and cold drinks. Bakery items aren't that great, but...

Good place to study 8/20/2005

The Fine Grind serves good, highly caffeinated lattes. The music is never blasting making this one of the best coffee shops when concentration is needed. I like to sit up front by Marshall Avenue (the back used to be reserved for smokers). It remains to be seen if the imposition of the smoking ban will attract the undesirables (suburban types) to the Fine Grind. The crowd outside Izzy’s ice cream next door can be annoying to wade through on a summer night, but the coffee is worth it. There is lots free parking on the neighboring streets. more

Best Coffee in Town 8/15/2005

I discovered A Fine Grind not long ago when my friends and I were wandering the Marshall area. They make the best latte I've had in the Cities, and their Frappes are divine. I recommend the "Dirty Uncle Chester", a mocha frappé with toffee syrup. They also offer food, such as really awesome muffins, cookies, and paninis. Best of all, even with its very reasonable pricing ($3 for a latte) this coffee shop has frequent promotions, such as $3 Frappé Fridays. Beware, however; you'll be charged an extra $.25 if you pay with a credit card. more
