collection of international foods 4/16/2006

Although it's a little pricey, I really like Southern Season. It's a great place for trying international foods and spices, they have a great wine and beer selection, a big chocolate section, and they even have free samples. You can also buy food per pound which is very good (their Samosas are cheap and a yummy snack!). more

AMAZING STORE! 4/5/2006

Southern Season in Chapel Hill is simply an unbelievable place. It's a gourmet shop that's the size of a department store. It's the kind of place you can visit over and over and everytime discover something new. The homegoods are all top quality and the food products are amazing. The wine section is HUGE and they have a good selection of unusual import beers. The candy section is amazing - imported Belgian chocolates (at imported prices) in the display case, just about every kind of packaged candy bar, and some local favorites. Southern Season also has a great deli area -- good for stopping in to grab lunch on the go. They have every kind of spice and seasoning and sauce - about one aisle dedicated to each type of cuisine (Japanese, Chinese, Cajun, Mexican, etc). They have a nice floral department too, and lots of good gift items. The summer sale is the best time to go to Southern Season. They discount just about everything, so you can stock up on your favorites. more

A Southern Season, now located in University Mall, in Chapel Hill offers one of a kind gift items and culinary delights. They make candies and chocolates here from scratch and sell them to the public. They also have a designer doggie section for the animal lover in you. Wines from all over the world are available for sale by the bottle. more

Great Goourmet Food 1/15/2006

Southern Season has a wonderful selection of gourmet cheeses, meats, and my personal favorite wine. you can get a lot of wines here taht youc ant find at other places around town, and at prices you wont be able to find anywhere else either. They have wonderful deals, on some fantastic gourmet items, well worth a drive from raleigh. more

Great gifts.... 12/5/2005

to yourself. It's a great place for gourmet snacks, foods, gifts, etc. After a hard day of buying great gifts, especially NC specialties, for out of town friends and family, sit and relax with a glass of wine, cafe or just eat to your heart's content. If you forget someone you can always order online. I don't really have a favorite item/food since they are all very good. They also have a cooking school and wine tasting which I have not taken or gone to but have heard great things about it. more

Fabulous! 11/15/2005

A Southern Season is a great shop that you can find just about anything. It's a great place to find items that are relative to North Carolina and use them to make a gift basket with. This store has been around for many years and has been featured on many TV shows as well as in various magazines. So if you are in the Chapel Hill area, make sure you stop by! You won't regret it and you'll leave with a carload of goodies :) more

Will NEVER go back 8/5/2005

We made reservations for Mother's Day Brunch at The Weathervane -- I called 3 weeks in advance, upon which I was given about 8 rules and regulations for eating there (no splitting ticket, can't be late, etc.) -- which was somewhat understandable, given the busy occasion. While there, waited over an hour, after ordering, to be served brunch. And over 20 minutes for our drinks! The manager was rude -- when I spoke to him (calmly) about the situation. He did nothing to ease my tension. Will NEVER go back. more

Great Place for Gifts 8/5/2005

Wonderful wine selection and knowledgeable staff to help pick out the best wine for your occassion. Terrific place to buy unique gifts for friends and family. Had great experiences ordering gifts from their online store too. I love shopping at Southern Season when we are up in the Durham area. We make this extra trip to do shopping for all the special items that we enjoy and can not found in our area. A Southern Season is just the best, most eclectic and fascinating delicatessen shop around... they'll always be bar none for gourmet eats, yo! more
