First you walk into the office. It smells so good. The person at the front desk is very welcoming. You fill out a consultation form while sipping a cool cup of spring water. Then an Electrologist comes out to greet you wearing a white jacket. She takes you to a lovely private room where there is soothing music playing in the background. You discuss your problem and she seems very interested and caring. During the treatment ice is used to make you feel comfortable. Then it really doesn't hurt. She devotes the entire time to you and doesn't do anything else. She never picks up the phone like they do in other places I've been to. She suggests a plan to get rid of your hair. There is no pressure. She tells you exactly how to care for your skin after the treatment and even gives you free products to take home and use. When you come to this place you really know what to expect. They don't sugar coat anything. Just give you the facts. A year later you have no hair. What more could anyone ask for. You get what you pay for in a very pleasant and welcoming establishment. No wonder they are so busy. Once you go here you won't go anywhere else. They are open 7 days a week. I have gone to many of the Electrologists here and they are all excellent and very caring. I am very grateful that there is a place like this in the world. I feel there is nothing more horrible for a woman than facial hair. I did everything imaginable to get rid of mine. I even bought one of those home electrolysis things. Nothing worked. Everything made my problem worse. I did some extensive research. Found a few places for Electrolysis. Remember I did research and learned it's the only things that works. I called all the places. This was the only one that seemed like a professional business. Someone answered the phone. She was so nice. I went for a consultation - it was free. The place is very clean and welcoming. I bought a package. Stopped messing around with my face. They told me it would take a year. It did. My hair is gone. I am extremely grateful that I found a place like this. I love the beach but hated taking my shirt off. Last summer I vowed to get rid of my hair once and for all! I have been thrilled with the unique quality of service provided by Ronni and her team. If you want a highly skilled, painless, germ-free experience: this is the only place to go. The fact that the atmosphere is relaxing and spa like is just icing on the cake. I was terribly embarrassed by my unsightly facial hair. I was always walking around with my hand covering my chin and I didn't even realize this until a friend asked me ""are you aware that you always have your hand on you chin"" this was a total wake up call. For years (and years, and years), I thought about getting electrolysis, but I didn't do it. It seemed inescapably painful — which it can be, especially at first, yet it was never as bad as I'd imagined it might be. It seemed expensive — which it is, but it's also reasonably budgetable. And it seemed intrinsically mortifying — which it was for approximately three seconds before the excellent Dawn assuaged my discomfort with her professionalism, kindness, intelligence, and sure but gentle touch. A huge weight of anxiety was lifted from me at that first appointment, when I discovered Ronni Kolotkin's soothing atmosphere and the respectfulness of its staff. Electrolysis is a process, not a quick fix, and it can take months upon months. But it does work, and merely knowing that Dawn would make that happen was an immense relief. What I never expected was that I would come to look forward to my appointments, yet I do. Dawn is curious, funny, a terrific conversationalist and an all-around decent human being. One of the first things that made me feel good about the place was the bathroom, believe it or not. Everything was automated, including the hand soap dispenser, sink faucette and paper towel dispenser. Even the garbage pail responded to just a wave of the hand. Keeping germs at bay is obviously a big priority here. In general, the place was immaculate! The technician who has been working on me, Dawn Goldberg, is wonderful. She takes great care to ensure you're experiencing minimal pain (well, as minimal as can be expected), she has a very calm demeanor, which is necessary when you feel like you're being electrocuted (slight exaggeration, of course) and she is very attentive to the client. She remembers everything I tell her! They also sell Dermalogica products. Any place that promotes this cruelty-free company is high on my list of places to hang out, so to speak. For me, this would be an almost ""zen-like"" experience if the pain factor was removed. Well, you can't have everything but this place comes pretty close. I've been going to Dawn weekly for about a year now, and I can honestly say that it's the best money I've ever spent for myself. I wasn't sure about electrolysis because I didn't know much about it, but I've had thick sideburns as long as I can remember, and in the past few years I had been starting to get dark hairs on my chin - so I thought it was easier to tweeze or wax, but I was never happy and dealing with it every day, so I finally made a consultation with Dawn. I was definitely uncomfortable and shy about it at first, but the office is a really warm, friendly place, and Dawn is amazing - I look forward to seeing and talking to her every week, and I always leave feeling great. Needless to say, I am extremely happy with the results!! I only wish I had gone sooner! You can go as often as you'd like, so if you're worried about the cost, you shouldn't - you'll be able to plan and budget it out. I am having Electrolysis at this place and I love going here because they make it very easy and enjoyable. They suggested a plan of action. I followed their advice. My hair problem is really improving quite rapidly. Yes it costs a decent amount of money but since the results are permanent I feel that I'm getting something tangible that will last my whole life. I did try other methods and they all made my problem worse. I spent thousands of dollars on laser and ended up with more hair than I started with. I did go to a few other Electrolysis places but felt that they weren't clean enough nor professional enough for my comfort zone. I honestly got sick of the jokes about women with mustaches. I would go to comedy clubs and every other act made jokes about women with mustaches. I finally decided to do some research. Should I thread? Wax? Laser? Electrolysis? I thought about this all the time. I became obsessed with my problem. Everyone told me to do something else. Fortunately I had access to the internet and researched all of my options. The name that kept coming up was Ronnie Kolotkin. I called. I made an appointment. I had a consultation. This place is really amazing. They give you the facts. They help you make a plan. I started on my face and worked all the way down to my toes. I have now removed every hair I hated. It is all gone. I promised to write a review when this day came. And, here it is. They don't give you false promises at this place. I have seen every Electrolosist at Ronni Kolotkin's and they are all professional and kind. I think they've all suffered with this problem in the past which makes them extra compassionate. Yes, it cost me a lot of money. I consider this the best money I ever spent. So many of my friends had laser and ended up with double the amount of hair after spending thousands of dollars. So many reviews talk about Ronnie and her amazing staff (all of which is 100% true), so I think I should write about why I chose electrolysis..... not only did I have a very hairy upper lip area, but because I threaded or waxed it almost every week, it became discolored. I stopped taking pictures and was never seen without makeup (in attempts to cover the area). After much research (on laser, threading, and other hair-removal methods) and consultations with my dermatologist and esthetician, I decided to setup a consultation with Ronnie (she will never starts any work on you unless she sets up a free consultation with new clients discussing the treatment and your expectations, and unless you're 100% sure electrolysis is the way you want to go, she won't encourage you to schedule an appointment). I've been going to her for a little over a year; first for upper lip only and now for chin as well because I don't like facial hair. I never imagined I could leave the house without make-up or covering my discolored upper lip area, but now, I don't wear make-up at all. My mom also comes to Ronnie now for what used to be a thick and dark beard which is now gone. And she only sees Ronnie for 15 mins every 2 months. Among may things that I love about Ronnie are: - she never tells you to make a 45-min or 1hr appointment when all you need is a 30-min session. You have to lover her for not being greedy! - she's really accommodating and is always concerned about her client's comfort(ex. she once gave me a last min appointment on a night that she was suppose to leave early). - I love talking to her: she's a friend and shrink. I would definitely advise you to stay away from Ronnie if you're impatient or extremely unorganized. Because she's very professional, she will charge you for not showing up (she does send e-mail confirmations, so it's hard to forget or miss an appointment). I've never been to any other electrologist, and I wouldn't want to. I'd rather pay a bit more at Ronnie than experiment with others. Speaking of paying, I definitely don't think Ronnie is expensive: buy a $500 card and get $600, which lasts me about 4-5months (because I share it with my mom). I wasted lots of time and money on things that only made my hair come back thicker. It is very discouraging when experts and magazine articles tell you to do things to solve a problem and they are wrong. That's what happened to me. I went to Ronnie's place as my last resort. I should have done the research myself instead of looking for the ""quick fix"" I have now been going to Ronnie Kolotkin's office for about 8 months and my hair is almost gone. I felt uncomfortable sleeping with anybody because of my stubbly legs. I was afraid if my leg brushed against theirs that they would get scratched or cut. That's how thick and course my hair WAS. Waxing was a problem because of all the in-grown hairs I would get afterward. I did try Laser and the problem just got worse. I found out through research that Electrolysis truly was the only way to get rid of the hair forever but also realized it was a big time and financial commitment. I called a few places and the ""vibe"" just wasn't right. Then I called Ronnie's office and made an appointment for a free consultation. They were completely honest and told me it would take about a year to get rid of my problem if I went for one - two hours per week. So now it's almost a year and they really delivered on their promise. I followed the plan they suggested and it really worked. I was even able to shave while I was going through the process. But worth every penny. The service here is top of the line! Totally professional. They take you on time. They concentrate 100% on you during your treatment time.
