This review is for Gin's Nails located inside of AJ's Hair and Nails. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! I would give Gin's Nails a ZERO star review if I could! I will never return to Gin's nails (manicurist = Jennifer) EVER again! I had the worst experience of my life at this salon.
I purchased a Livingsocial voucher to get a full set of acrylics -- it took TWO HOURS!!! She put on a full length fake nail on each of my fingers instead of just tips -- I've never had another manicurist do that when I've gotten a full set, probably because it's not sanitary and it causes lifting as I found out the hard way. Not only that, but the acrylics were completely uneven and layers upon layers thick, GROSS! She also kept trying to rush me out of the salon because her next appointment had arrived even though my nails were still completely wet and they kept getting smudged so she'd just add another layer of goop on top of the smudges. At the end of my appointment, she asked for MORE money (on top of the Livingsocial amount and the tax plus tip) for a $10 restocking fee -- SERIOUSLY?? She also doesn't accept debit/credit, cash only, so I was told to go to the ATM down the street and get cash to pay the additional fee. If you're going to charge customers additional fees on top of tax & tip you need to TELL THEM THAT IN THE FINE PRINT BEFORE THEY PURCHASE! Also, if you only accept payment in cash then you should definitely include that in the fine print as well. I have NEVER had any business that I've purchased a Livingsocial from charge an additional fee on top of a voucher amount AND the worst part is that I had to go get my nails balanced within 1 1/2 wks because of lifting! Oh and it gets better... the salon I went to to get my nails balanced had to completely remove the set she did to put on a fresh set because they were literally that BAD! UNBELIEVABLE!
To add fuel to the fire, I purchased another Livingsocial voucher for my mom as a gift to get a mani/pedi for her birthday from the same manicurist and at the end of her appointment, Jennifer charged her an additional $25 on top of the Livingsocial voucher for various fees, NOT including tax & tip. SHE CHARGED HER $5 ALONE JUST TO REMOVE HER PREVIOUS POLISH, WTF? In most other salons around the area that's a standard procedure when you get a pedicure and they don't charge you an absurd amount to do it. I can remove my own nail polish for less than $1 at home. What was the point of buying her a GIFT if she had to pay money for it herself. BS! And according to other reviewers on the YELP website, she apparently has a history of this behavior with all of her customers. Do yourself a favor and do not go to this salon/manicurist! There are so many better salons in Toledo that charge less and do a FAR better job (Luxury Nails, Bella Nails, etc).
If you bought the same deal and had a similar experience call Livingsocial to complain and they will hopefully refund your money and never allow Gin's Nails to be a merchant through their site in the future. Completely unprofessional manicurist and poor craftsmanship.... Gin's Nails should be ashamed of their business practices, if you can even call them that.
P.S. Be forewarned that she expects you to come into the salon with perfectly trimmed and unpolished nails, otherwise you will be charged extra for each service!! RIP OFF
