Best

In the first few days I moved to California, some friends took us to A'float Sushi and I was instantly hooked. It's a really fun place to take people who've never had the pleasur...

This place has some ok points. Just be careful during slow hours, you don't know how long the sushi has been floating on those boats! It's probably best to order straight from you...

Not Bad for your Buck 11/2/2005

After reading all the reviews, I decided to check this place out myself. My experiences overall so far have been nothing but pleasant. This place has a great variety of sushi and the best part is is that it doesn't cost much. Pros: Sushi, Price, Variety Cons: Parking more

The most appealing aspect of Afloat Sushi is the sushi bar which is in an oblong oval with sushi boats floating past the diners. The sushi is pretty cheap, but I believe that this may be so due to the not-so-fresh fish. I felt like the sushi was floating on the boats for quite some time without being picked up by the customers. Overall, the restaurant is a decent place to go to. Just watching the sushi boats pass by is worth going. Pros: sushi boats, inexpensive Cons: not-so-fresh sushi more

Float right in! 6/16/2005

My boyfriend and I have been to Afloat Sushi three times and each time has been amazing. The sushi chefs are wonderful and bust out huge, fresh, mouth watering slabs of sushi every time. The staff is great, but can be a little slow at times. If you go definitely wait to sit at the sushi bar, it is so fun and you can pick whatever you like right off the boats, no waiting time! The chefs monitor the sushi so it doesn't go bad. I highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp tempura roll! You can order anything off the menu you don't see and their chicken teriyaki is a large portion and delicious as well. It gets packed in the evening and is a great atmosphere. The banana tempura dessert and green tea ice cream are both delicious. I always leave stuffed but still wanting more! Pros: floating sushi bar, fresh sashimi/sushi, fun crowd Cons: staff slow at times more

A good time with sushi... 3/14/2005

Definitely sit at the bar when you dine at Afloat. You can watch the chefs prepare the sushi and take what you like off the boat. We love the sushi here and are always amazed at how many empty plates we have stacked up by the end! Get the crunch roll! This is a good date spot and great sushi dining experience in Old Town Pasadena. Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Location more

Grrreat!! 10/25/2003

Great spot to have sushi before hitting the clubs on Colorado Blvd. Very inexpensively sushi with a fresh taste always. Longest wait was approx 9 or 10 mins on a busy night. Pros: Inexpensive, Great taste Cons: Parking, Poor English more

Sushi with a theme 6/16/2002

There's something endearing about your dead fish swimming on little boats in front of you. Don't know what it is. Of course, it's easy to pick the wrong thing, but you can always order whatever you want from the menu. It's not cheap though: Stacking up those plates can get very costly if you don't pay attention. The fish is very fresh--some of the best tuna I've seen--and we love the spicy crab roll. Servers are always friendly and efficient. It's a great place for a fun first date or a Saturday afternoon. more

Fish Overboard! 6/13/2002

This place has some ok points. Just be careful during slow hours, you don't know how long the sushi has been floating on those boats! It's probably best to order straight from your waitress so you can have your orders made fresh. I recommend trying to slow down the boats and watch them bump into each other. Just kidding... Pros: floating sushi Cons: freshness? more

Good Food Cool Theme 6/13/2002

The sushi is very good and the service is above average. The sushi floating around the bar in small boats is a great theme. Be careful to watch how long that Sashimi Roll has been floating. Average selection of Japanese beers and the wait is usually short. more

Lame 6/10/2002

Over-rated if you ask me. The sushi boats float around in a small circle, with the same dishes going around and round. You're not even allowed to grab your own. Once you do get what you want, it is too warm for me, so I don't really like it that much. Always busy, sometimes you have to wait for a table. Poor parking. Not my kind of place. more

Oh No! 6/6/2002

I went here for a nice lunch and walked out grossed out with the food and the management. As we waited at the bar for our sushi to be prepared we witnessed the ""chef"" scratching his scalp and going right back to rolling up someones sushi - can you be any grosser? We weren't the only ones who complained. The custmers whose order that was asked to speak with the manager but everyone seemed to not understand English all of a sudden. - need I say more. more

Floating sushi! 5/19/2002

The sushi bar is actually a moat... going around the sushi workstation. So, the chefs make the sushi, and you nab it off little boats that float by. Gimmick aside, the sushi is pretty good. Fresh and well-prepared. more

Fresh Sushi 5/19/2002

This place Rocks! Friendly servers with a smile. Fresh Sushi & Ice Cold Asahi beer! Sit at the bar and watch all that beautiful sushi float right past you. You don't have to order and wait. It's right in front of you ready to be enjoyed. Or, sit at a table for a more intimate setting with that special someone. Pros: friendly, fresh more
