Fun, Friendly, Affordable!! 8/29/2011

I visited A Cowboy Town for the first time Friday when I took a friend there for her birthday. We were greeted right away by a very friendly staff....including a wonderful four legged welcoming committee :-). Our guild, Lucky, was not only friendly, but very knowledgeable and very patient. The scenery was gorgeous and the horses were calm, had an easy gate and even though my friend had never ridden before, it took no time for her to feel comfortable and really enjoy herself. We were a bit tired after the ride, so we did not take advantage of the canoeing, fishing or hiking option, but I definitely plan on going back and taking advantage of those activities as well. If you have never visited Cowboy Town, you are really missing out!! more

So much fun! 6/26/2011

I brought my 11 yr. old son to a birthday party here. I was expecting it to be so cheesy! I think I had as much fun as the kids. The employees were very nice & answered all our questions. They were very patient in explaining instructions re: horseback riding. We had hamburgers & hotdogs for lunch. There were checkers in the saloon & a swing set for the kids. We loved the gun fight show (soooo funny!) & the magic show was really cute. we spent all day there & I hated to leave. I heard they also can provide inflatable waterslides & moon bounce houses. They also offer camping & dinner shows. I hope they expand the actual town (buildings) for the kids to explore & experience the old West! But really enjoyed ourselves! I hope my son wants his birthday party here next year! more

Are you Serious?!!! 9/24/2010

So after traveling 30 minutes to a destination that was advertised to be ten minutes away from downtown, we finally arrived at A Cowboy Town. So as we started to look around the grounds we see a boarded up church and a freakin' NOOSE...WTF ?? Did we drive to A Cowboy town or a ""Redneck"" town?? more

Great staff, great horses 7/24/2010

I visited the town today with two friends - and the three of us enjoyed it very much. The staff put an emphasis on safety, and explained how to handle their horses before they put anyone on.\r \r The horses are friendly and tolerant if you don't know how to ride, but actually DO react if you know how to ride (not the usual I-don't-care-so-stop-trying kind of tourist horses). \r \r The staff is simply great! Friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and interested in their guests. And although I was sceptical at first: The gun-fight show was highly entertaining! \r \r 5 stars Pros: friendly people; good and safe horses; fun more

Best kept secret in Nashville 8/15/2009

My wife and I took my 9yo daughter for her very first horseback ride in her life. The staff was excellent and explained everything to her prior to us going out. We took her on the beginner trail for the first hour, and then onto an intermediate ride for the second hour. The horses were great and very well taken care of. We finished the day with the hour long country comedy and dinner by the campfire. The show was excellent and dinner was some of the best grub I have ever eaten. It doesn’t matter if you are a local or in from out of town, it’s a MUST see and do experience. I give A Cowboy Town 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! Pros: Staff is Great, VERY Family orientated more

Very Kid and Family Friendly 8/24/2008

We made reservations and visited A Cowboy Town this weekend. When we initially arrived, we were a bit skeptical as the grounds appeared to have sufferred a little from lack of attention. While there are some things that need attention (water run-off making creating muddy spots, lake was a little smelly, loose boards on the porch and horse-walk), we ended up having a wonderful time! \r \r We packed a picnic lunch and walked around the lake. It is beautiful around the lake so, take a camera! The kids went horse back riding which, they loved. The guides were very friendly. The had music playing on the porch of the saloon. The staff was very focused on ensuring everybody was having a great time. Billy Bob sang some kid-tunes which, made them ecstatic! They were up dancing around and that was completely acceptable. It was a great chance for the kids to be outdoors, running around being kids while having fun!\r \r While we thought the gun-fight would be the high-light of the day, it was really the overall experience of the day that made it so enjoyable! The meal at the end of the day was delicious! Our 5 year old went back for seconds and that never happens! \r \r This is definitely something fun for the entire family & we will go back. Probably this fall before the close for the season! Exclusive of the maintenance needs mentioned, 5 STARS....Highly Recommended! Pros: Fun and Friendly Staff! Great Dinner! Cons: Parking and Grounds need some attention. Charge for coming early...it can get pricey! more

Surprise high point of our trip to Nashville- hands down! 7/19/2008

On a business trip, my husband and I with our 20 year old daughter went to many tourist attractions, and high priced restaurants. A Cowboy Town was where we had our best time. We knew we were very close to the city and yet we felt so much back in the time of the old west. The charm starts with the town- complete with a Bank, Jail, Livery Stable, Rattlesnake Saloon, Butterbean Stageline, Telegraph Office, Baldy's Barber Shop, and the Howling Coyote Amphitheater. The whole staff is warm and welcoming. We got there in the morning in time for a canoe ride in Kick a Poo Lake. Lake just big enough to enjoy a quiet moment with nature. Beautiful sky, stillness, and the birds singing. Next it was time for the horses! I was most impressed that the welfare of the horses was just as important to the staff as the welfare of the guests. This is not a place where the horses are overworked for the bottomline. Horses are matched with the guests according to ability, experience and the rider's weight. If a guest says he is experienced, he is given the chance to show that before the ride begins. Guests are given the simple instructions of how to turn, stop and go. Beginners are welcome. The horses know the path cold so there is no chance of getting lost. There is a wrangler in front, behind, and in the middle of the line to aid anyone. The ride is a full hour of fun. I was impressed that the wranglers were ""on duty"" during the ride. The safety of the guests was paramount. \r Later, the town came alive as the staff performed a western about the free range cattlemen vs. town folk ranchers. The story is easy to follow with lines and actions from movies that will delight adults as well as children. The gunfight is surprisingly loud and action filled. Then, a catered dinner- high quality food and plenty! We sang with the 3pc. Bluegrass Band into the night as even a storm outside did not stop the hospitality. Don't miss the Saturday Show! Family friendly! Just Go!! Pros: Family friendly, light hearted, safe adventure, fun, and great food! more

Family Fun on a Saturday you will really enjoy! 7/15/2008

I visited A Cowboy Town this past weekend and had a wonderful time. I took a 5 year old and a 7 year old, both girls. They haven't stopped talking about it yet. they had a wonderful afternoon. They got to pet the horses and watch them eat. What the enjoyed most was a small barn kitten named ""butter"". they wanted to take it home. \r The older one found a horse shoe which we have proudly displayed in our living room. It was a great time for everyone. \r \r There are a lot of ""the same old thing"" places in Nashville where kids are concerned. If you want to take your children someplace they will really enjoy and build memories for them, visit A Cowboy Town. I have promised myself I will never go back to Chuckie Cheese...not while a place like A Cowboy Town is around. Thank you to everyone there, including the owner, the staff, and the other visitors for making out day a special one. We'll be back!\r Pros: This place is real! more

Birthday Boy's Best Day Ever 7/14/2008

Cowboy Town was the ingredient that make one little boy?s 10th birthday so very special! The office staff was so sweet helping me maneuver through our options of things to do and they even worked with me to bring a cake out to the Rattlesnake Saloon a day early as a surprise. Then on Saturday the trail ride was fantastic, the gunfight was so much fun and the food was far better than we had anticipated. We brought 5 children ranging in age from 5 to 13 and each of them had a very special day. They loved the music, the canoes and the staff was so sweet talking to the kids about the horses, letting them hold the barn kittens and encouraging them to play checkers in the Rattlesnake Saloon. If you are looking for a new idea to celebrate your child's next birthday or just a great ""unplugged"" day with your children then I suggest Cowboy Town! We will be back as will everyone that we have told about this very special place. One final note ? Jack, our birthday boy, said it was ?his best birthday ever!?\r \r Pros: Kids can be kids more

An experience my wife and I will not forget! 7/9/2008

Planning our vacation this year ( for the first time in 26 years without our children ). We chose the COWBOY TOWN WILD WEST SHOW and CAMPFIRE SUPPER on 6/21/08. A true delight and experience that made us fill at home. From the moment we first arrived being greeted by Wild Bill's howdy , friendly handshake and warm smile we knew THIS was were we wanted to be for our first day and by the way our anniversary .Serenades of Billy Bob filled the air as we walked around Kick-A-Poo lake, very beautiful in the evening mist. We were soon to enjoy the Cowboy Wild West (Comedy)Show as laughter surrounded us making this event even more special. Next, the campfire supper catered by A Dream Come True a mouth watering feast- I highly recommend for any family. After supper we sat around the campfire and listen to a Country Music Band for our entertainment. Later a Hay-rack ride to end a perfect evening. Next year we will be bring our grand-kids for a full day of fishing, canoeing, horseback riding and great family entertainment. Hope to see you there! Pros: Entertainment, Excellent Food, Warm and Friendly Atmosphere more

Awesome place to visit 6/24/2008

Today was the first time I have visited Cowboy Town and I am so glad I did. I took my dad there for my Father's Day present to him and we were so happy with our experience. We went horseback riding, canoeing and enjoyed listening to Billy Bob sing. Our guides were so nice and even went that extra mile to help us trot a little bit even though we were beginners. Thank you so much! I know I we will come again and we will definitely tell our friends. Thanks again. Pros: Close to the city, good experience more

Awesome!!! 5/26/2008

I love horses to death and if you do to then A Cowboy Town is the place to come! The horses are absolutely beautiful and very well behaved and taken care of! The wranglers were very helpful and did an exceptional job as guides! I would recommend this place to everybody... The trails are amazing and the lake is absolutely beautiful! The Wild West Show on Saturday nights was hilarious and even had a cowgirl riding in on a beautiful black horse shooting up the town and even kickiing a big guys butt! It was great! Anyways I will defiantly be coming back sooner than i expected... oh yeah the cowboy dinner and the bluegrass band is awesome to! I would defiantly recommend A Cowboy Town over Juro Stables anytime! Pros: everything more

School party 5/19/2008

I took a school group out for a field day to learn about horses and farm life. The children had a blast. The younger children who were timid had wrangler walk with them while they led the horses. The older children rode their own horse. They played horseshoes, frisbee, volleyball, visited 2 baby horses, canoed, and went fishing. We had a cookout and then an ice cream party at the campfire before we left. The children were all smiles. They gave us a very reasonable price. We really appreciated this, since most of the children would not be able to afford it otherwise. Many smiles, many wonderful memories, and many thanks to A Cowboy Town! more

Unique experience 5/17/2008

My family and I spent most of a Saturday at A Cowboy Town. We rode horses and then stayed for the evening activities. It felt like we were far away from the city, but it was actually 10 minutes past the Titan's stadium. My husband enjoyed fishing with our son. The children were so excited about being around the horses. The gunfight created a memory I don't think the children will ever forget. The food was exceptional. The Bluegrass band while we ate was amazing. No complaints. more

Good Food 10/4/2007

I went to a party there, the food was good, I did not get to ride a horse so I can not comment on the horses, I did not see the music, stagecoach show or gunfight show that they advertise on their brochure, but the food was good. Pros: good food Cons: everything advertised was not available, was further from Nashville than advertised more
