Editorial review from Citysearch 7/17/2014

We have been coming there for years. My daughter broke down in Plainfield while we were out of town. The guys at 59 Auto towed her car in and got her back on the road in a few hours. They gave her a ride home and picked her up when it was done. This could of been a very stressful situation but the people there took good care of her as they always have all of our cars. Thank you, thank you, thank you. more

Wonderful service and economical prices! I take my car there all the time and the owners are there being responsible for the work done and are great to work with. Needed my car in a hurry and they had it done BEFORE the needed time! more

Plainfield's Best Autorepair Around 5/6/2013

Highly recommend this place! They always get my car back to me when they say they are going to. I really appreciate how much time Dan took last time I was in to explain the quote to me and exactly what was wrong. The repair was quick and pain free. I love the workers there and would never take my cars anywhere else!! more

Stress free 4/26/2012

Car problems are stressful and often expensive. ?The mechanics here make car problems slightly less stressful, which is enough to recommend them. ?I also feel like I have gotten fair prices from them on the three occasions I have had to visit (compared to what web searches tell me I should expect to pay for the job). ?Finally, I appreciate that they explain to me what they have had to fix in my car and why they have done so. ?Hopefully I won't have to see them too much in the future, but if I do have car problems, I know where to go. They just want your money 11/29/2011

I got my 99 neon towed there last Tuesday. I do not know a lot about cars but figured my problem had to be the battery. They said the problem was the drive belt and the harmonic balancer. They told me the car could not run without these replaced. They replaced it and I ended up back in there on friday. Now they said it is the battery (which is what i assumed from the beginning) . So they replaced that and of course charged me again for the same tests they ran 3 days prior when it came out to be the balancer and drive belt. Now 3 days later the same thing happened. I am extremely dissapointed in there service and will not recommend this place to anyone nor will i ever take my car there again. DONT TRUST THEM!!! Pros: null Cons: null more

better than the dealer 11/23/2011

for the past month or so, i've been hearing a strange noise from the engine and noticed the suv was not handling the same. i brought the vehicle to the dealer and after a hefty bill, the problem was still not solved. a co-worker reccommended 59 Auto and i decided to give them a shot. i drove in without an appointment, and they took my vehicle in. they were friendly, polite, and accomodating to my schedule( i work unusal hours). not only did they solve my problem, but they were kind enough to explain it to me in laments terms. and the bill was Very reasonable as opposed to the dealer who took my money and did not solve my problem. i would highly reccommend this auto repair shop to everyone!!! The staff was knowledgeable, polite and accomodating. Never again will i use a dealer repair. Pros: null Cons: null more

Last minute help 10/17/2011

I called 59 Auto in a pinch last Tuesday and scored a last minute appt to get my car in for a repair. I had to leave town for a few days and needed my car back by Sunday and didn't have very much time to shop around. I basically called a bunch of places on Yelp. They did a great job in diagnosing my car problems (e.g two bad front axles, an oil pan leak, and A/C condenser leak). They called me with updates. I was surprised that when they called me on Friday afternoon to pick up the car. The car is working great and off to get detailed tomorrow. Highly recommended. Their work is warrantied for 24,000 miles or 2 years. Pretty good deal. more

always happy 10/13/2011

I love 59auto! There is no way that I will ever take my car anywhere else. Magie is always smiling when I walk in the door and asks how my kids are doing and makes sure I get a nice cup of coffee. Linda and Wendy are wonderful. For years they have always explained exactly what is wrong with my car in terms that I, someone who has no clue about how cars works can understand. I never leave confused or unhappy. This place is the greatest, I would and do recommend them to all my family and friends! more

great place 10/10/2011

This place was great. I had never taken a car in to get it worked on by myself before, and I was super nervous about someone being dishonest with me. The guys here listened to exactly what I said and road around with me and listened to my car so they understood what I was talking about. They fixed the problem very fast for a very reasonable price. I would definitely come back! more

Always overcharged 8/31/2011

We had our 2001 Jeep Cherokee at 59 Auto to get the window fixed. We paid 59 Auto a total of $381 for the work. We were charged $188 for the part and $172 for labor. The book time to do this job is 1.5 hours, but I'm sure it took less than 1 hour to do the job, so 59 Auto charged $172 per hour for labor to do the job. Highly-paid business consultants don't make $175 per hour, nor should auto technicians or shops. With the right tools, I could have done this job in an hour. I called Autozone in Plainfield. They sell the exact same part for $99 with a lifetime warranty. Having knowledge of the auto retail industry, I know they bought the part for $50 or less since they mark up all parts by 100%. Since 59 Auto charged me $188 for the part, and I'm sure 59 Auto's cost is somewhere close to Autozone's part cost of $50, 59 Auto is making $138 on that one part, or a 275% part mark up. That's outrageous ! Simply put, 59 Auto overcharged me by a considerable amount. Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe 59 Auto should make money on your service and parts. I just don't think more

Best auto repair around!!!!!!!!! 1/10/2011

This place has always been nothing but good to me. I remember the first time I came in. I had just moved into town and my car broke down on the highway. I had never broken down before. I googled local shops and found them at the top of the list. I called and the person on the phone was really helpful. She talked me through what to do; call the tow, get to the shop, and then explain what is wrong. They were able to give me a ride back to my house so i didnt have to wait. they knew it was my only car and were able to get it in quickly and find that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. they were very resonably priced and stuck with me through all of my questions. They were able to pick me back up to pick up my car. It was quick and painless. I have been going there ever since. I have been going for about 3 years now and have never encountered a problem they could not fix. I love it there and would recommend everyone to bring their vehicle here!! more

service and price was reasonable 1/10/2011

? I'm a single mother and cash is tight. I was having problems with my car and was afraid of going to a shop and get taken advantage of. So I went to a dealer and after 2 weeks and $1,6oo later;they couldn't fix my car. It wasn't fair. A friend referred me to this place and the man who answer the phone was nice. He explained to me a couple of things and gave me confidence. Over all my bill was $400 and had no problems since. more

kept it running again 1/6/2011

My truck has over 300,000 miles and nearly every part has been replaced at least once with the exception of the motor, when it failed emissions I thought we'd be saying our last farewell to the truck. But, not Linda she said, ""Bring in it and we'll see what we can do."" When I picked up my truck, it wasn't what I expected. At the very best I was hoping Linda would promise a successful trip through emissions. Hear this! they had already taken my truck through emissions testing successfully. You can't do better than that. From my past experiences with 59 Auto Repair (clutch, shocks, alternator, catalytic converter) it really wasn't a surprise. These guys treat me right and I?m nobody. I am so grateful. more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! 10/23/2010

ABSOLUTELY POSITIVLY DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLES HERE!!!!!\r I was charged over $800.00 for rear brakes on a Chevy Astro Van. Included in these charges were three brake rotors for two wheels. They tried to charge me for parts that they did not use and over charged me for everything. I am disabled and asked them to please help me to get out of the shop quickly. I showed up at 7:30 and did not get my "estimate" till 9:30. I had to wait for the girls to stop gossiping and taking a 30 minute coffee break to McDonalds across the street. After two more agonizing hours I finally got the ENORMOS bill. Do not get taken like me. Save yourself the money and grief. Please listen to me. I do not know how anyone can say anything good about this place. Please do not use them!!! more

love this place 10/1/2010

I live in Carrilon Lakes, a 55 and older community and today we had a business expo. Rich and Wendy from 59 Auto were there. I have been a long time loyal customer and have a have only great things to say about them. As I was talking to them person after person came to the table (by the way they had the best treats) and said that they were customers and loved them and the great work that they do. I have lived here for many years and always here from my friends how great they are and how everyone should go there. I just wanted to say thanks for always being honest with us and taking such good care of our cars. it is nice to be able to go somewhere and feel so comfortable getting your car repaired. more

they rock 10/1/2010

I came across this shop when I got a flat tire a few years ago and have stuck with them ever since. They are completely honest and competent and we've never had a problem with them. I trust their opinion and have never felt like they try to nickle and dime me (as has been my experience with so many other car mechanics). They have great mechanics and totally professional. They rock at what they do!? more

fixed my jeep 9/29/2010

I had been having several problems with my 92 Jeep Wrangler turning off on me. I had been taking my jeep to another shop for years and after three tries repairing the problem with three different parts I figured the shop I was trying to pull as much money out of me as possible. In the search for a new mechanic I had heard about 59 Auto from a good friend of mine that has been using them for years. Rich was the best. He connected his computer to my car and ran a diagnostic. He found the problem and had it fixed that same day. Not only did they get a customer that day but they got a customer for life. I will never take my jeep to my other mechanic again. He is honest and reliable and there are few guys like him in Plainfield with real knowledge on Jeeps. more
