One of the best places for a brew... anytime of day 5/8/2010

Absolutely love 21st Amendment. Allagash is on draft - need I say more? The crowd is always solid - no pretentious uppity people - just high quality solid Bostonians. Regardless the time of day you can be guaranteed great service and an enjoyable experience. Friday nights it is a great stop for the downtown area - and often lacks the college crowd (huge plus for me - so over that) that you can find in Fan Hall. A lot of legislative aides and people from the State House frequent happy hour - and I prefer here to Beantown Pub any day. A fast walk from Park Street T stop leaving you able to head into any other part of Boston through either the green or red line. Beers range from the $4 to $6 range but are not limited to Bud/Coors. A must visit - maybe you will even catch me there. Pros: great draft selection Cons: hard to find/easy to miss more

Tasty food, good location 7/25/2008

This is a great bar. It's right next to the State House and off of the Boston Commons so it's a great spot to cool off in if you're doing the Freedom Trail or just hanging out on the Boston Commons. The burgers are delicious and rather large. My favorite small dishes/ appetizers are the mini cheeseburger sliders and the nachos with chili. Mmm. The beer selection isn't great with maybe 6 or 8 beers on tap and some more available in bottles. I usually just get a regular Sam Adams or whatever the seasonal Sam ale is. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. All in all, it's a great bar and one of my favorite places to hang out in Boston. Pros: Location, food, service, atmosphere Cons: Beer selection more

Best Burger... thanks to the bun! 9/25/2006

I always have a great time at the 21st amendment. Great service, wonderful atmosphere, cool crowd, great music. They have one of the best burgers in town. It's all thanks to that bun. I'm always thrilled to hang out there. Pros: service, atmosphere, music Cons: small space, a tad dark more

A (not so)Hidden Jewel 7/17/2006

The 21st Amendment is exactly what a Beantown watering hole should be. With political posters and photographs from prohibition gracing the walls and a dark wood bar, this is the perfect hangout for Hill residents and visitors alike. While the music is the standars top 40 fare, the affordable drinks and shots make for a party like atmosphere without the meathead element. The patrons are a mix ranging from NU art students to Someret Club brahmin. Conversations between strangers are bound to break out and servers are equally friendly often remembering and greeting repeat customers at the door. All in all, a neighborhood tavern that captures all that is good in the Boston character. Pros: Enlightened patrons, location, not much of a "hook-up" bar Cons: Music, closing hours (ocasionally), not much of a "hook-up" bar more

The original CHEERS! 8/12/2004

This place is a hidden gem right next to the State House. Super-friendly waitstaff (Cy, the bartender, remembered me AND my drink after one time!) and very laid back, cozy tavern-type atmosphere. I've been here a couple times by myself & always ended up meeting someone interesting to talk to. Outgoing & unusual crowd mix - everyone from politician's & after work prof's., to local residents and a smattering of suffolk students hang out here - all just looking to enjoy themselves. Some article on the wall says JFK used to write speeches here - if they served the same lunch specials as they do now, I can see why it was his favorite hangout! I'll definitly be back. Pros: super friendly staff, great sandwiches, laid-back crowd Cons: , only night parking, can get crowded more

Beacon Hill Hang Out 6/2/2002

As a new Beacon Hill resident I visited the 21st for my first time last Friday night. What a party! I met a ton of people...great people, music and drinks! What more could I ask for. Pros: Good looking crowd, Friendly, Inexpensive Cons: None I could find more
